The full-size luxury SUV is almost here. Genesis confirmed the GV90 will launch by the end of 2026 as expected. Here’s what we know so far.

When is Genesis launching the GV90?

It’s official. We will finally get to see the GV90 in full in less than three months. After production was delayed last year due to “unresolved technical challenges,” it wasn’t clear when the GV90 would launch.

While sales were expected to begin earlier this year, Genesis confirmed on Monday plans to launch the flagship electric SUV on September 9, 2026.

According to an exclusive report from AsiaToday, a high-ranking Hyundai Motor Group official, who wished to remain anonymous, said that “We are preparing the Genesis GV90 launch schedule with the goal of unveiling it on September 9.”

The company official added, “The final schedule is currently being adjusted internally,” ahead of its upcoming debut.

Hyundai has reportedly built over 250 production GV90 models at its Ulsan EV plant in South Korea as quality checks and other testing wrap up ahead of its upcoming launch.

The GV90 marks a milestone as the first vehicle produced at the facility, Hyundai Motor’s first dedicated EV plant in Korea.

With its official debut coming up, GV90 prototypes have been captured driving around the US, Europe, and South Korea.

At least two variants have been spotted: a flagship version with coach doors and all the bells and whistles, and a standard model. In the US, it was caught charging at a Tesla Supercharger, suggesting it will come with a built-in NACS charge port.

Inside, the flagship version looks about the same as the Neolun concept, with a massive center infotainment screen, premium cashmere and leather materials, and four VIP captain’s seats.

It will be equipped with a high-tech infotainment system, “Connect W,” that’s based on Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect OS. The setup offers a smartphone-like experience with apps and customizable screens.

The GV90 is also expected to be the first to ride on Hyundai’s new eM platform, set to replace the current E-GMP.

Hyundai has yet to reveal specifics, but did say the platform could deliver up to a 50% improvement in driving range compared to E-GMP-based EVs like the IONIQ 5.

The GV90 will likely be powered by a battery over 100 kWh, which should provide at least 300 miles of range. Again, specific details have yet to be revealed.

We will have to wait until closer to launch for official prices, but the flagship GV90 model could cost upwards of 200 million won ($130,000). The standard variant is expected to start at around 100 million won ($65,000).

In the US, the Genesis GV90 will likely start at around $100,000 when it goes on sale as a 2027 model.
