That noise you just heard was your financial planner wincing as you consider whether or not to buy the resurrected Ram TRX.
On Monday, the 2027 Ram 1500 TRX order books were opened and the Hellcat-powered truck is going to cost a pretty penny. To be exact, it’ll be $102,790 including a ludicrous $2,795 destination fee.
That’s for the standard truck. For the limited-run, of which we aren’t actually sure how limited, Bloodshot Night Edition package (pictured above) you’ll have to add another $9,995. That money buys a hand-painted Blacktop upper with Flame Red hood strip, splash graphics on the exterior (it’s like the ’90s again!), red interior accents, and beadlock-capable wheels.
Ram was quick to note that the TRX (and subsequently the turbocharged inline-six-powered RHO sibling) are the only high-performance off-road trucks to offer a Level 2 Plus hands-free driver-assist system, which Stellantis dubs Hands-Free Active Drive Assist. That’s a poke at the Ford Raptor.
The resurrected TRX arrives with the venerable supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, you know, from the Hellcats, now rated at 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. It hooks to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ram said with full-time four-wheel drive (which is standard) and Launch Control the truck will run from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 118 mph.
How long the reborn Hellcat-powered TRX lasts in the market is anyone’s guess. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis told The Drive, “Call Washington” when asked.
