- The tri-motor, four-wheel-drive rugged SUV boasts a combined system power of 830 kW (1,113 hp).
- The new model is expected to revive the Geely Galaxy brand, whose sales fell year-on-year for a fifth straight month in May.
Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand of Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), released more official images of its mid to large-size SUV, the Galaxy Cruiser 700, on Monday. Touted as an AI-powered, all-terrain, hardcore SUV, the model is scheduled to officially launch later this year.
The new vehicle adopts a boxy body shape with bold, angular lines, creating a distinctly rugged off-road style.
Its front fascia features a long rectangular grille and a full-width daytime running light, with an illuminated brand logo.
The rear end takes on a cleaner look, paired with vertical taillights and an externally mounted spare tire.
The Cruiser 700 is equipped with a three-motor, four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system and a differential lock, according to information previously released by Geely Galaxy.
The powertrain delivers a combined system power of 830 kW (1,113 hp, 1,128 Ps), with a power-to-weight ratio as high as 392 Ps per ton.
Geely claims the vehicle has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any mass-produced off-roader globally, as well as the highest combined system power of any mass-produced plug-in hybrid off-roader.
It is also the world’s only mass-produced plug-in hybrid off-road model to use a tri-motor four-wheel-drive system combined with a differential lock, the automaker said.
The Cruiser 700 is fitted with Geely’s in-house developed GVMC (Geely Vehicle Motion Control) dynamic control system. The company claims the system enables the vehicle to pass the moose test at 80 kilometers per hour.
The new vehicle’s AI intelligent four-wheel-drive system can automatically switch between front-wheel, rear-wheel, and four-wheel-drive modes.
It also integrates features such as crab mode, tank turn, flat-tire driving, and continuous automatic obstacle avoidance.
In addition, the Cruiser 700 has a wading depth of 800 millimeters and is equipped with satellite communication capabilities.
The LiDAR mounted on the roof indicates the vehicle will support advanced driver-assistance functions.
Geely previously said the vehicle has completed extreme cold-weather testing at the Colmis proving ground in Sweden and is undergoing multi-scenario validation worldwide.
The upcoming launch of the Cruiser 700 comes as Chinese automakers accelerate their push into the rugged SUV market. Domestic manufacturers including BYD and GWM (HKEX: 2333) have already rolled out multiple such models.
The new vehicle is seen as key to reviving the Geely Galaxy brand. Galaxy sold 81,727 units in May, down 19.75% year-on-year, marking a fifth consecutive month of year-on-year decline.

Geely Galaxy was previously one of Geely’s fastest-growing sub-brands. In most months of 2025, its sales rose more than 100% year-on-year, but momentum has clearly slowed this year.
Geely Galaxy launched a naming campaign for the model in March, with the company saying the final name came from more than 50,000 user submissions. The process is seen as the latest attempt by Chinese automakers to strengthen brand communities and user engagement.
Geely’s official account warned against battery cell temperatures exceeding 65°C during charging, a statement widely seen as an implicit jab at BYD.
