Through a dense stream of product launches over the past few years, Zeekr has moved away from its reliance on a single volume model, with the brand’s premium product matrix becoming a new growth engine.
The Zeekr 009 is the world’s first purpose-built all-electric luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), with cumulative deliveries approaching 70,000, according to the company.
The model has topped sales of MPVs priced above 400,000 yuan (59,180) in the Chinese mainland for two consecutive years, and is also the best-selling all-electric luxury MPV in regions including Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia, Zeekr said.
The plug-in hybrid luxury flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) Zeekr 9X, meanwhile, has become a key model in the brand’s push into the high-end market.
The model has seen cumulative deliveries surpass 60,000, with an average transaction price of more than 530,000 yuan, an exceptionally expensive level among products from Chinese domestic automakers.
The Zeekr 9X has topped both sales and reputation rankings in China’s large SUV segment priced around 500,000 yuan for seven consecutive months. In the segment above 500,000 yuan, one in every three luxury vehicles sold is a Zeekr 9X, according to the company.
Zeekr’s other hybrid flagship, the Zeekr 8X, went on sale on April 17 this year. In May, its first full month of deliveries, the model became the best-selling hybrid SUV with an average transaction price of 300,000 to 500,000 yuan, it said.
The more mainstream Zeekr 7X has seen cumulative deliveries surpass 160,000. The model continues to top sales of mid-size luxury SUVs in several markets including Hong Kong, Australia and Malaysia, Zeekr said.
In addition, Zeekr’s shooting brake family has reached nearly 380,000 in cumulative deliveries, making it the global sales leader in the category.
Among them, the Zeekr 001, as the pioneer of the all-electric luxury shooting brake market, has helped move the segment from niche to mainstream. The Zeekr 007 GT, meanwhile, has redefined the category with five new standards, the company said.
The Zeekr brand was launched by Geely in March 2021 to target China’s rapidly electrifying premium EV market.
In December last year, Zeekr completed its merger with Geely and delisted from the New York Stock Exchange. It thereby became a wholly owned subsidiary of Geely.
The move marked a key step in Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s push to advance its “One Geely” strategy and integrate resources under its umbrella. The integration aims to avoid cannibalization between different brands and to enhance synergies.
As its sales scale expands, Zeekr is accelerating its global expansion. The company has previously said the 9X and 8X are expected to be brought to overseas markets as early as the third quarter of this year.
The move aims to streamline the governance structure and further implement the “‘One Geely” strategy, Geely chairman Eric Li said.
