Ahead of the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, Amalgam Collection is announcing a 1:4 scale model of the Ferrari 499P race car’s V6 Engine and Gearbox. The scale model is created in collaboration with Ferrari and, if you have the money, pairs well with Amalgam Collection’s 1:8 scale model of a Ferrari 499P race car.

You’ll pay handsomely to get them, though. The 1:8 scale Ferrari costs $23,995, or about the same as a new Toyota Corolla. Bump that price to $27,495 if you want it to appear “race weathered.” Or, you can save some coin and get just the engine for $18,495. Yes, it’s pricey, but being a quarter scale, it’s quite large. That means Amalgam can get into extreme detail. So extreme, in fact, through photos at least, it’s indistinguishable from the real thing. Let’s take a closer look.

    Amalgam Level Of Craftsmanship

As you can tell by the price, Amalgam is at the high-end of hand-crafted model making. The company has been working with Ferrari for over 20 years now, building up a relationship that allows Amalgam access to the original design data provided by Ferrari for the engine for reproduction.

“Having worked alongside Ferrari for more than twenty years, we are uniquely privileged to receive access to original CAD files, engineering data and reference material directly from the teams that create these remarkable machines. That access, combined with the involvement and approval of Ferrari throughout the development process, allows us to create models with a level of accuracy that simply cannot be achieved any other way.”

    – Sandy Copeman, founder of Amalgam Collection.

The 499P’s engine is a 3.0-liter V6 that makes 670 horsepower as part of a hybrid system and designed to act as a structural component of the chassis. In 1:4 scale, it makes zero horsepower, but it’s pure automotive art that shows off engineering details normally hidden beneath the bodywork of the race car. Amalgam even involved Ferrari and gained the automaker’s approval through the development process.

    The Ferrari 499P

The Ferrari 499P promises to be a significant part of Ferrari’s history. In 2023, it marked the return of Ferrari to running factory-backed sports prototype in FIA World Endurance Racing (WEC). It was competitive right out of the gate, and once the Scuderia Ferrari team sorted itself out from a disastrous opening race, they claimed Ferrari’s first win at Le Mans since 1965. It took the Le Mans win again in 2024 as part of its overall championship title, then made it a Le Mans win hat-trick in 2025.

“The Ferrari 499P V6 Engine and Gearbox demonstrates what is possible when engineering data and craftsmanship come together. Like a fine mechanical watch, its beauty lies in the complexity and precision of its construction. Our goal is always to create the world’s finest model cars, and that can only be achieved through genuine collaboration with the people who designed the original.”

    A Rocky Start To 2026

The WEC has been off to a rocky start this year, with the prologue and season-opening race in Qatar being postponed due to the Iran war. The race was moved to Imola, and Ferrari took the hyperpole position, but its overall strategy for the race only scored second place for the 499P, coming in behind Toyota’s TR010 Hybrid.

It may not surprise you to learn who actually made the highest-revving V6 for sale here.

However, the 2026 season is eight races long, with the Le Mans event running on June 13. If it pulls off the victory at Le Mans, and even better, the series win, these models should gain value among collectors. If you’re really into the 499P, have the money, and models just aren’t enough, the 499 Modificata exists.
