Smart, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand jointly established by Mercedes-Benz and Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), officially launched the Smart #6 EHD hybrid sedan on Thursday.
The new model is the biggest in the brand’s history and its first sedan equipped with the EHD super hybrid technology.
The car is available in three variants, priced between 177,900 yuan ($26,250) and 217,900 yuan after limited-time discounts. Its official guide prices range from 179,900 yuan to 229,900 yuan.
Specifically, the entry-level 1675 Pro carries a guide price of 179,900 yuan and a limited-time discounted price of 177,900 yuan. The mid-trim 1810 Max is priced at 209,900 yuan, discounted to 197,900 yuan, while the top-spec 1810 Ultra is priced at 229,900 yuan, discounted to 217,900 yuan.
The pricing comes in below the pre-sales price of 189,900 yuan announced at the Beijing Auto Show in April, signaling Smart’s determination to grab share in China’s fiercely competitive new energy vehicle market.
The Smart #6 EHD is a mid-size sedan measuring 4,906 mm in length, 1,922 mm in width and 1,508 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,926 mm.

The larger body size is designed to cater to Chinese consumers’ preference for spacious interiors, marking Smart’s transformation from its classic compact cars toward the premium mid-size sedan market.
Its exterior was designed by Mercedes-Benz’s global design team, featuring a hatchback silhouette, hidden door handles and frameless doors.
The new car is powered by a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T hybrid engine and an electric drive motor. The engine delivers a maximum output of 120 kW, while the motor produces up to 200 kW.
The system has a combined output of 320 kW, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in as fast as 6.7 seconds.
The model offers two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs of 20 kWh and 41.46 kWh, delivering pure electric driving ranges of 135 km and 285 km respectively under CLTC standard.
With a full tank and a full charge, the car achieves combined driving ranges of 1,675 km and 1,810 km respectively. Its fuel consumption with a depleted battery is as low as 3.9 liters per 100 km.
The larger battery version can be charged from 30% to 80% in less than 15 minutes, while the smaller battery version takes less than 20 minutes.
Intelligence is another key selling point of the car. The new model comes standard with a roof-mounted LiDAR and 30 high-precision perception hardware units across all variants.
It is equipped with the Geely Afari Smart Driving assisted driving system, supporting highway navigation assistance, HD map-free urban navigation assistance and smart parking functions.
The cabin features a 25.6-inch AR-HUD augmented reality head-up display, powered by an AMD V2000 cockpit chip, and integrates ByteDance’s Doubao AI large language model voice assistant.
To boost sales, Smart has also rolled out a series of limited-time purchase incentives. Customers who place orders before July 31 can enjoy benefits including lifetime free access to the assisted driving functions worth 30,000 yuan, trade-in subsidies and zero-down-payment financing plans.
Smart currently operates in about 40 markets worldwide. The production version of the Smart Concept #2, a reinvention of its iconic two-seat city commuter, will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The Smart #6 is the brand’s largest hybrid sedan to date, while the #2 heralds the return of the all-electric two-seater.
