We’re in new model year season, and that usually means feature updates and price increases for basically everything on the market. The 2027 Subaru BRZ is no exception. The enthusiast darling has unfortunately become a bit pricier this year. Not only that, but Subaru hasn’t done much to make up for the price increase. The good news is that the increase really is minor.

    What It Costs

Interestingly, both the MSRP of the Subaru BRZ and its destination charge have increased. The Limited trim, the entry-point for the model, with a manual remains the cheapest with a starting MSRP of $36,140, an increase of $280. The destination charge has crept up by $50 to $1,245. So, at a total of $37,385, the new BRZ now costs $330 more than before. The difference is the same for the automatic-equipped BRZ Limited, with the transmission option adding $850 to the price tag.

    tS

    $38,770

The BRZ tS is still available at the top of the line. The main attractions of the model are the STI-tuned suspension with trick Hitachi shocks, and Brembo brakes with four-piston front calipers and two-piston rears. In keeping with the performance upgrades, it’s only available with a manual transmission, and it gets a smattering of tS badges and a black and blue interior. Subaru also increased the price more on the tS than the Limited. The MSRP is now $38,360, and with the new destination charge, it comes to $38,770. The difference compared to the previous year is $410.

    What Changed

As we already hinted at, Subaru barely changed anything on the 2027 BRZ. The only change across all models is the inclusion of an updated wide-angle mono camera for the EyeSight driver assist system. Subaru says this will increase how much the system can see, which is good, though it’s likely not something you’ll be noticing much. The tS has a more noticeable addition, and that’s a set of rear parking sensors. While not exciting, it should make reversing into spots significantly easier, and we’re betting more owners will notice and appreciate it than the EyeSight upgrade. It also explains some of the larger price increase for the tS.

It’s Probably Still The Most Expensive Among The Small Sports Cars

There are three models that make up the small, affordable sports car market in the U.S. The Subaru BRZ is one, and the others are the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the Subaru’s twin, the Toyota GR86. Subaru is the first to announce pricing for this model year, so we don’t know the exact pricing differences yet, but the Subaru will likely continue to be the most expensive of the trio. The 2026 GR86 starts at $32,695 with destination, and the 2026 Miata starts at $31,665. We doubt that any of the changes those models receive will make up the roughly $5,000 difference with the Subaru.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Of these three sports cars, the BRZ has also suffered the worst sales. Price is probably a major contributor. When you can get one well-known icon that also includes a convertible roof, or a practically identical car for basically $5,000 less, it’s hard to see why one would go with the Subaru. The BRZ does have a few extra standard features such as heated seats and adaptive headlights, but those are available on a higher-trim Toyota, too. So, we suspect that the BRZ will continue to be a distant third in the sales race.
