GAC Group’s low-altitude mobility technology brand, Govy, rolled the first unit of its multi-rotor flying car, the Govy AirCab, off the production line on Friday at its new facility in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District.
The production milestone marks the aircraft’s transition from the prototype research and development phase into a new cycle of industrialized mass production, airworthiness certification, and commercialization, Govy said.
The newly completed facility has established a full-process manufacturing system covering component matching, final assembly, and finished product delivery, with a designed annual production capacity of 100 units.
Govy has obtained the AS9100D aerospace quality management system certification, providing the necessary industry qualification endorsement for subsequent commercial operations.
Meanwhile, the mass-production model of the Govy AirCab has completed multiple critical tests, including full-scale static testing, system durability testing, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.
First unveiled in June 2025, the flying car has an official guide price set at no more than 1.68 million yuan ($248,250). The pricing strategy aims to attract early operators in the cultural tourism and mobility sectors.
The Govy AirCab’s fuselage extensively utilizes aerospace-grade carbon fiber composite materials. Its carbon fiber usage rate exceeds 90%, which reduces the overall weight by more than 30%, Govy said.
Currently targeting the cultural tourism and mobility market — such as low-altitude sightseeing — the model features a unique top-mounted rotor and gull-wing door design to enhance passengers’ viewing experience and ease of entry and exit.
The Govy AirCab supports 25-minute fast-charging technology and can replenish its battery from 50% to 100% within 15 minutes.
The two-seater flying car features built-in 5G networking and a smart assistant. It is equipped with a redundant flight control and navigation system, as well as cloud-based self-diagnostic capabilities.
The aircraft is also equipped with advanced autonomous driving technology, supporting Level 4 smart driving functions. Its onboard computing platform has a processing power of over 500 TOPS, with a maximum detection range exceeding 300 meters.
Govy is a brand specifically established by GAC Group to expand its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) business. As the low-altitude economy rapidly emerges in China, traditional automakers are racing to enter the nascent sector.
GAC is attempting to build a low-altitude product matrix that covers different mobility needs for short- and medium-to-long distances. Late last year, Govy unveiled the AirJet, a composite-wing flying car with a range of 200 kilometers.
Aridge’s Land Aircraft Carrier secured over 90 orders in a single day at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show, with cumulative pre-orders exceeding 7,000 units.
