Volkswagen has launched the new ID. UNYX 07 sedan and the updated ID. UNYX 06 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China, as the German automaker strives to claw back market share in the fiercely competitive Chinese market.
Both new models are produced by Volkswagen Anhui and officially went on sale in Chinese on Saturday.

The updated ID. UNYX 06 SUV, launched simultaneously, has a starting suggested retail price of 149,900 yuan. It also offers limited-time purchase benefits, bringing the starting price down to 134,900 yuan.

It marks the first mass production of central computing and zonal control, representing a key step forward for Volkswagen in its in-house developed smart vehicle software.
The new sedan is slightly larger in size than Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 and is equipped with a 60-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Gotion High-tech (SZSE: 002074).
Driven by a single motor, the model has a maximum power output of 170 kilowatts (228 hp) and can achieve a top range of 558 kilometers under CLTC conditions.
Smart features are the core selling point for these two new Volkswagen electric models to attract Chinese consumers, with both coming standard with the MediaTek 8676 cockpit chip.

The new vehicles feature a smart cockpit system with four interconnected screens and come standard with a pure vision-based highway navigation on autopilot (NOA) function.
Volkswagen plans to launch a higher-end version equipped with LiDAR in the second half of this year to support urban NOA for complex road conditions.
The updated ID. UNYX 06 SUV has received upgrades in interior design, smart features, and power range to enhance its market competitiveness.
The model is also equipped with a 170-kilowatt rear motor, and its upgraded battery capacity brings the range to 528 kilometers.
Volkswagen Anhui is a joint venture established in 2017 by Volkswagen and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), and is Volkswagen’s first joint venture in China focused on new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The company was originally named JAC Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd. In late 2020, Volkswagen increased its stake in the company to 75% and renamed it Volkswagen Anhui.
The joint venture launched the ID. UNYX all-electric compact coupe SUV on July 17, 2024, which was its first model in the Chinese market.
On April 21, 2025, Volkswagen Anhui launched the ID. UNYX 06, replacing the ID. UNYX.
The new vehicle launches are a crucial part of Volkswagen Anhui’s 2026 product strategy, and the joint venture will also release a new flagship sedan in the fourth quarter of this year to further enrich its product lineup.
