Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI) has secured another design win from a European automaker, with an order size exceeding 1 million units.

The Chinese LiDAR maker announced this major business milestone on Wednesday, following its recent L3 autonomous driving partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

Hesai did not disclose the automaker’s name, but said the new order will cover more than 10 models under the top European automaker’s Chinese joint venture brands.

This marks the recognition of its proprietary chip-based technology and mass production capabilities by top international automakers, Hesai said.

The company’s compact, high-performance, long-range LiDAR ATX has quickly become a standard safety component for hit mass-market models since entering mass production in 2025, Hesai said.

The product is currently the best-selling primary LiDAR in the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) sector, with cumulative deliveries exceeding one million units and an order backlog of more than six million units, according to the company.

Hesai has now secured mass production design wins for over 160 models across 40 automotive brands.

In March 2026, Hesai’s installation share in China’s passenger vehicle primary LiDAR market reached 55%, exceeding the combined share of all other suppliers, it said.

The company posted a net income of 18.3 million yuan ($2.7 million) for the three months ended March 31, marking Hesai’s fourth consecutive quarter of GAAP profitability, according to its earnings report released yesterday.

The company’s first-quarter net revenue rose 29.6% year-on-year to 680.6 million yuan. ADAS LiDAR shipments reached 353,441 units in the first quarter, representing a year-on-year increase of 141.9%.

Hesai announced yesterday that the company has become a strategic LiDAR partner and confirmed supplier for Mercedes-Benz’s L3 autonomous driving models.

The new supply agreement will support Mercedes-Benz’s projects in Europe and China, with LiDAR production supported by Hesai’s new Galileo manufacturing center in Thailand.

Hesai’s Q1 net revenues reached 680.6 million yuan, with total LiDAR shipments more than doubling year-on-year.
