Bonkers is a good way of describing what the German tuning legends at Brabus made out of the latest Mercedes-AMG G63. The iconic G-Wagon’s new generation is now a 789-horsepower carbon fiber monster with enough complex scoops and wings to retail for 565,935 euros (~$617,479) in 800 Superblack form, or even more if you go for the exclusive Mean Green or Deep Blue editions. Crazy Brabus Mercedes G Wagon price? Check. As for the rest, with the twin-turbo V8 now tweaked to send 738 lb-ft (limited to 1,000 Nm) of torque through the G63’s trusted 4×4 system, this showstopper will complete the 0-62 mph jump in four seconds flat, all without having any sympathy for its sufficiently wide rear tires.

Based on the new W465 generation of the G-Class, the composite-bodied trio of the Superblack, Mean Green and the Deep Blue Brabus 800s are built using the company’s core Widestar design. Enhanced with a long list of flashy options and a custom body now fully made of carbon fiber instead of just high-grade polyurethane, the green example will set you back by 587,641 euros (~$640,922 at current exchange rates), while the blue Brabus 800’s price is at a whopping 611,560 euros, also known as somewhere around $666,990.

This article takes a closer look at the latest Brabus G-Wagon, known as the Brabus 800 Widestar and based on the W465 Mercedes-AMG G63. We will discuss the tuned SUV’s interior/exterior features, performance upgrades, and rivals.

Brabus And The G-Class: A Perfect Match From The Start

Brabus opened its shop in 1977, pretty much a full decade after AMG’s humble beginnings. Active in racing as well as OEM tuning collaborations, the company is mostly known for its range based on Daimler products (Mercedes, Maybach, Smart), with a few Porsche-based models produced on the side. Equally active as a high-end classic Mercedes-Benz specialist, Brabus has made some of the most powerful contemporary special editions originating from Stuttgart.

This focus on unbridled performance meant that it was only a matter of time before Brabus got hold of the ultimate Mercedes off-roader, the G63. The first G Wagon Brabus made was based on the V12-powered G-Class from the mid-2000s, and the love affair Brabus developed with the powerful 4×4 never stopped there. Back in 2018, when Mercedes-AMG introduced what was essentially the second-generation G-Class, following five facelifts of the first-generation SUV in the United States, Mercedes engineers – as well as all tuners out there – suddenly got a much more advanced chassis to play with, in a luxury car intended more for the road. The outrageous V12 Brabus G Wagon may be gone from the regular G-Class, yet the G63 is stronger than ever at 577 hp, while AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 remains a highly modifiable, great-sounding and durable engine.

    Why The Widestar Collection?

Brabus calls the 800 Widestar a supercar. What’s for sure is that by using the latest platform and enjoying Daimler’s blessing, the historic German tuner was able to come up with a definite answer to today’s highly competitive G-Class market. Even before learning about the wild performance figures, the Brabus G’s exterior already projects a crystal clear message. Dome hood and fender flares in shiny carbon fiber, 24-inch forged monobloc wheels and hi-beam LEDs integrated into the roof. In case you are not sure about the wings, just remember how mass is aiding the downforce.

The Brabus 800 Widestar Looks As Mean As Its Price Tag

Having a Mercedes-AMG G63 in black must be nice. Having a Brabus 800 Widestar in Superblack is nicer. As one would expect, everything can be painted or tinted to color on this tall and menacing urban off-roader. How much is a Brabus G-Wagon? At well over $650,000, the full-fat package includes carbon fiber front and rear skirts, fender flares, a front lip spoiler and rear guard plate, the hood attachment, composite door handles and spare wheel cover, the spectacular rear spoiler and roof lights, the mirror caps and license plate frame, various other smaller trim pieces, and of course the all important illuminated front grille with the Brabus logo.

Beefy sidepipe exhausts are mandatory on all G63s, so Brabus goes further with an active valve system and the optional 24-inch monoblock wheels, most likely offered to make sure you don’t bottom out too easily. The rear tires are 355/25s, while the front axle has to find all the traction using 295/30s. Thankfully, Brabus has upgraded the brakes as well to cope with all this.

Brabus knows its audience, and with the stock G63 already feeling comfortable in the luxury segment, the 800 Widestar’s cabin had to have a certain wow-factor. The Brabus G Wagon interior has what’s called “the Masterpiece” fine leather package. The “Mondial Black” interior features black piping and stitching in “seashell diamond” quilting, with perfectly positioned perforation and double-B embossing, naturally. Sun visors, storage comparments, as well as the floor and the trunk are all trimmed in leather, while the A-, B-, C- and D-pillars have an equally dark Alcantara finish.

To contrast the unique exterior, the interior trim is glazed in “Shadow Gray” matt, while carbon fiber is used liberally.

    Carbon-Fiber Interior Components

    • Paddle shifters
    • Pedal covers
    • Door handles and lock pins
    • Scuff plates

It’s also great to know that the carbon fiber entry panels on all four doors feature a backlit Brabus logo that changes color in sync with the ambient lighting. If that doesn’t brighten your day, maybe you need a Mansory Gronos.

You could be wondering about the chances of the sound system, keeping in mind the presence of the V8 and its sidepipes. The modern G-Class is very well isolated already under the layers of Brabus’ quilted leather treatment, yet at the touch of a button, the 4.0 twin-turbo goes into what the Germans describe as a “discreet whisper”. What’s more, the exposed-structure carbon fiber surrounds of the exhausts feature integrated red illumination as a universal sign of peace and harmony.

    Brabus 800 Widestar Performance

While a stock Mercedes-AMG G63’s produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, the Brabus 800 (named after the metric horsepower figure) makes 789 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, as well as a confident 738 lb-ft from as low as 2,100 rpm. Brabus calls this tuned drivetrain the Performance Kit PowerXtra B40S-800, and the package includes the AMG engine fed through a pair of more eager turbochargers and the active stainless steel sports exhaust system.

Rated for a top speed of 149 mph and limited to 738 lb-ft of torque to make sure the automatic transmission can cope, reaching 62 mph from zero in four seconds flat must be an event in such a beast of an SUV.

No word on exact weight figures, but frankly, with this much torque on tap, there’s no need to know. Without the carbon treatment, a stock G63 weighs around 5,842 pounds. With the help of stronger brakes, Brabus uses Hankook Ventus S1 evo ZX tires to keep everything under control.

    What About Off-Roading?

It may be a Brabus with illuminated sidepipe frames, arguably a variant that’s pretty far gone from a base G550, but the 800 Widestar still remains a Mercedes-Benz G-Class. That means it comes with three locking differentials you can control from the dash using physical switches in the correct order, and a chassis that is therefore always ready for the Schöckl mountains in Austria, or any other terrain you wish to throw at it.

However, 24-inch wheels with sticky tires and expensive carbon fiber add-ons all around suggest that if you really want to explore the dunes and trails of this beautiful planet, you may want to find a Brabus 800 4×4² Edition instead. That SUV has the same power, but it rolls on 22-inch forged wheels, 325/55 R 22 all-terrain tires and portal axles for a ground clearance of over 19 inches. It’s cheaper as well, since Brabus sold its 800 4×4² Edition exhibition car for ~$488,000 just recently. As high as Brabus 800 prices and Brabus G-Wagon costs can go, that’s pretty much a steal.

Mind you, even without those portal axles, blasting through the sand should be just fine in your 2026 Brabus G Wagon 800 Superblack, Mean Green or Deep Blue.

    Pricing And Rivals

This trio of Brabus W465 series flagships is expensive. Brabus G Wagon price starts with the Superblack at $617,479. The Mean Green SUV is up for $640,922, while the Deep Blue special is the equivalent of $666,990 in European currencies. One could buy a small fleet of performance crossovers at this price point.

If über-exclusivity isn’t your main motivator, with a highly similar AMG-based drivetrain also turned up to 11, the Aston Martin DBX707 would be a strong contender for some fun.

Still at a considerable discount compared to the Brabus, you could try the V12-powered Ferrari Purosangue. Tuned versions of the Land Rover Defender V8 could work, perhaps from Urban Automotive, and let’s not ignore the option of an extreme Lamborghini Urus variant either. Meanwhile, the joker in the pack must be the 666-hp Lister Stealth, which is based on the Jaguar F-Pace SVR.

However, if only a modified G-Wagen could do, European alternatives include the Mansory Grande Entrée and Gronos, Hamann’s Spyridon G63, Lumma’s CLR G770 R, or perhaps even the next special edition from AMG themselves. Power figures can easily climb above the 800-horsepower mark, as evidenced by Lewis Hamilton’s 1,063-hp G63 one-off.
