- He Xiaopeng handed over a Mona L03 to its first customer in France last week in Paris.
- The SUV launched simultaneously in China and Europe in July and is a key model in Xpeng’s push into overseas mass markets.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has delivered its first Mona L03 in France, with chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng personally handing over the keys, marking the start of European deliveries of the SUV.
The Chinese EV maker said in a Weibo announcement on Tuesday that the handover took place in Paris on October 13. The milestone marks a key step from the Mona L03’s European launch to customer deliveries.
The first L03 customer in France cited its advanced driver assistance features as the reason for choosing the model, according to Xpeng. The company did not disclose the vehicle’s specific variant or the features available locally.
He later met with French dealer partners. Xpeng said a dealership group’s CEO expressed confidence in the company and the Mona L03’s market prospects, though the announcement did not disclose local order numbers.
The Mona L03 made its global launch in Munich, Germany, on July 16, becoming Xpeng’s first global model to launch simultaneously in China and Europe. The company said at the time that it planned to sell the model in 64 overseas markets.
The model is available in China as both a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), with a starting price of 123,800 yuan ($18,420). The European BEV version launched in July with an announced starting price of 35,600 euros ($40,030).
The start of French deliveries comes as Xpeng expands the L03’s presence in other overseas markets.
The company announced on October 11 that the model had launched in Australia and New Zealand, becoming its third offering in those markets after the G6 and X9.
The Mona L03 is central to Xpeng’s efforts to bring mass-market vehicles and driver assistance technology overseas. At the model’s launch in July, the company also said the L03 would be its first overseas model to integrate Google Maps Auto SDK, supporting mapping, real-time traffic information and route planning.
Xpeng’s overseas sales exceeded 10,000 vehicles for the first time in September, with global markets accounting for a growing share of total deliveries.
