A regulatory filing image of BYD’s all-new Han.
- The all-new Han measures more than 5.1 meters long, an increase of 161 mm over the Han EV Flash Charging Edition launched in April.
- The third-generation Qin Plus EV appears in the filing with a 2,800 mm wheelbase, as BYD begins teasing the new generation.
BYD’s (HKEX: 1211) all-new Han and third-generation Qin Plus have appeared in Chinese regulatory filings, advancing a refresh of its core sedan lineup.
The 2 models were included in the 412th batch of new vehicle filings released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Friday, revealing their dimensions and powertrain specifications.
The all-new Han filings cover 3 battery-electric variants and 1 plug-in hybrid variant, all with 5 seats. The sedan measures 5,156 mm long and 1,969 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm.
Compared with the Han EV Flash Charging Edition launched in April, the all-new Han is 161 mm longer and 59 mm wider, with a wheelbase extended by 110 mm.
The electric variants offer single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The 2 rear-wheel-drive variants have peak motor outputs of 245 kW and 300 kW, respectively, both with a top speed of 240 km/h.
The all-wheel-drive variant pairs a 200 kW front motor with a 320 kW (429 hp) rear motor, for a combined peak output of 520 kW and a top speed of 270 km/h.
The plug-in hybrid variant combines a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor delivering peak power of 200 kW, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
The all-new Han in these filings is a separate model from the Da Han launched by BYD on October 13. The Da Han sits higher in the lineup, measuring 5,256 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase.
The Han refresh comes amid a sharp decline in the series’ sales. September sales totaled 2,529 units, down 70.90% year-on-year and 30.83% from August, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
From January through September, Han series sales totaled 44,324 units, down 68.86% year-on-year, underscoring pressure on BYD to revive the lineup through product updates.
Meanwhile, the third-generation Qin Plus variant in the filing is battery-electric. It measures 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.
The 5-seat sedan features a permanent-magnet synchronous motor with peak output of 100 kW and a lithium iron phosphate battery, with a top speed of 170 km/h.
Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD’s Dynasty lineup, teased the third-generation Qin Plus on Weibo on Friday, highlighting its larger dimensions and increased space and saying more information would be released in due course.
Images accompanying Lu’s post showed the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid, while the filing documents provided cover the battery-electric Qin Plus EV.
The Qin series has already received several updates this year. In January, BYD launched the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i and added longer-range variants to the Qin L DM-i, increasing the maximum CLTC electric range of both hybrid models to 210 km.
In August, BYD launched the Qin Max, positioned above the Qin L and available in battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions, further expanding this core sedan family.
The redesigned model is 425 mm longer, bringing it closer in size to the larger BYD Dolphin.
