- The Dark Knight package is priced at 6,000 yuan ($890) for a limited time, lifting the appeal of the electric sedan with exterior and interior updates.
- The package focuses on exterior and interior styling and involves no upgrades to powertrain or assisted driving hardware, an approach similar to the design packages Nio has rolled out frequently over the past 2 years.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has launched a Dark Knight package for the P7+ sedan at a limited-time price of 6,000 yuan ($890), using exterior and interior updates in a black-and-red color scheme to lift the appeal of the mid to large-size electric sedan.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker announced on its official Weibo on Friday that the Dark Knight package officially went on sale with an official price of 10,000 yuan, with customers who place orders now able to enjoy a limited-time price of 6,000 yuan, 40% below the official price.
The package is available as an option on all versions of the P7+, and display cars will arrive at stores in batches, according to Xpeng.
The package includes a new Midnight Black paint finish and a Lava Gray interior, paired with exclusive red seat belts and seat stitching.
On the outside, it comes with exclusive 20-inch six-spoke sport wheels and Flame Red caliper covers, as well as blacked-out logos and lettering, while the cabin features exclusive metallic-look trim panels.
The update covers only exterior and interior design, and Xpeng made no mention of changes to the powertrain, battery or assisted driving hardware.
Still, Xpeng once again highlighted the P7+’s core selling points in the announcement, including a space utilization rate of 88 percent, a combined CLTC range of 1,550 kilometers for the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version, and a CLTC range of up to 725 kilometers for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version.
The model supports an 800-volt platform and 5C fast charging, allowing it to be charged to 80% in 12 minutes, and is equipped with the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) assisted driving system with maximum effective computing power of 2,250 TOPS.
The practice of refreshing existing models with exclusive colors and design packages is similar to the strategy local peer Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has regularly used over the past 2 years.
Nio’s Onvo brand just launched a Starry Gold design package for the large SUV L90 on September 23, with an official price of 10,000 yuan and a limited-time price of 6,000 yuan.
Onvo also launched a Starlight design package for the L80 on September 11, while the main Nio brand recently rolled out a Lanyue package for the third-generation ES8 and an Aura Edition for the EC6. The Firefly brand has used similar approaches several times already.
The 2026 P7+ went on sale in China on January 8, adding an EREV option for the first time, with both the BEV and EREV versions starting at 186,800 yuan ($27,520).
The model comes in 4 variants, with the BEV version offering a 61.7-kWh or 74.9-kWh battery pack for CLTC ranges of 615 kilometers and 725 kilometers, respectively.
The EREV version has a 49.2-kWh battery pack with a CLTC battery range of 430 kilometers, and together with a 45-liter fuel tank it delivers a combined range of 1,550 kilometers with a full tank and a full charge.
The P7+ was initially launched in China on November 7, 2024, with only a BEV version at the time. Xpeng announced on January 9 that the 100,000th unit of the model had rolled off the line, 14 months after its launch.
The updated P7+ went on sale in Europe on January 9 and began large-scale shipments to overseas markets in February, with Xpeng saying at the time that the model would enter 36 countries and regions.
Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, down 0.78% year-on-year while up 5.50% from August.
