    • The Denza Z9GT brings flash charging and BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery to Thailand for the first time.
    • Denza now operates in 13 Asia-Pacific markets.

BYD’s (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza has launched the Z9GT in Thailand, bringing flash charging to the local market as it expands its Asia-Pacific presence.

The flagship shooting brake debuted in Bangkok on September 16, introducing BYD’s flash charging technology and second-generation Blade Battery to Thailand for the first time, Denza said in a statement on Friday.

The Z9GT is priced at 2,999,900 baht ($89,870) in Thailand. The model has already entered overseas markets including Europe and Malaysia.

The launch adds Thailand to the markets where BYD is rolling out its new-generation battery and charging technology, while expanding Denza’s local luxury vehicle lineup.

At the Bangkok launch, Ke Yubin, general manager of BYD Thailand, demonstrated flash charging, with a live display showing the vehicle’s charging progress.

Denza also showcased the vehicle’s handling capabilities enabled by its e3 technology, with a professional driving team performing a drifting demonstration.

Denza has now entered 13 Asia-Pacific markets, and the Z9GT’s Thai launch marks another step in expanding its regional presence, Liu Xueliang, BYD vice president and general manager of its Asia-Pacific auto sales division, said at the event.

BYD completed its 10,000th flash charging station in China in August and will continue rolling out the technology globally, Liu said.

Denza announced its entry into Thailand in November 2024, initially targeting the market with the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle). Thailand was the brand’s fourth Asia-Pacific market after Hong Kong, Cambodia and Singapore.

The Z9GT has become another key model in Denza’s overseas expansion. In April, the brand held its European launch event in Paris, introducing the Z9GT and D9 DM-i and showcasing BYD’s flash charging technology.

In China, the updated Z9GT went on sale on March 5 with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid options. Its battery-electric variants offer a maximum CLTC range of 1,036 kilometers.

Denza added another e3 tri-motor battery-electric variant in China on September 9. It can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes.

Denza’s expansion is also supported by BYD’s growing presence in Thailand. In July, BYD’s cumulative deliveries in the country reached 130,000 vehicles as its Rayong plant marked its second anniversary.

The plant began production in July 2024 and has a designed annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. In addition to serving Thailand, it has begun exporting vehicles to Europe.

BYD doubled its flash charging network in less than 5 months, but must still add about 80 stations a day on average to meet its full-year target.
