When Chevrolet launched the Corvette in 1953, you could get any color you wanted. As long as it was Polo White. Flash forward 73 years, and there is an entire rainbow of colors available for new Corvettes, but new data shows that Grand Sport buyers are leaning toward one choice over all others. If you know Grand Sport history, you probably know what that color is.
But Arctic White is still holding strong as the second most popular choice.
Launch Color Is Leading Choice Among Grand Sport Buyers

All Corvettes are red. That’s what Corvette legend and former Corvette Development Group Manager John Heinricy told author James Schefter, and what went into his eponymous book about the development of the C5-generation car.
Despite that, red doesn’t even make the top four spots when it comes to orders for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport. Data compiled by Corvette Blogger from the ‘Vette Tracker app and GM Build Counts breaks down all Grand Sport colors along with loads of other options on the newest addition to the C8 Corvette lineup.
Paint code GTR, named Admiral Blue, is the most popular pick, with 837 of the 2,652 cars built so far finished in that shade. It’s the signature shade of Grand Sport, so that probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. G8G, Arctic White, is second at 504. Black and Pitch Gray are third and fourth, with Torch Red and Red Mist at five and six.
Add the two reds together, and you’d get enough sales for third spot. But combining the two silver colors would undo that, so we won’t get into it. That said, we don’t know how many blue Admiral Blue Grand Sport buyers opt for the Grand Sport Heritage Graphics package, which adds the iconic hash marks above the rear wheels. The package is available in several colors, but if you’re getting a Blue Grand Sport, you have to get red stripes, right?
Rounding out the list are Sebring Orange with 78 orders and Competition Yellow at 63. Roswell Green had the lowest take rate with just 50 orders going to the bright hue.

More buyers are going for the coupe than the convertible, but it’s close. Just over half of buyers, or 1,454, took the hardtop with 1,198 going topless. Both groups like their cars loaded, though, with 3LT models the most common and 1LT trailing far behind.
Only 35 coupe buyers and 17 convertible buyers have gone for the Z52 Track Performance package. That $20,695 pack comes with carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and more. The Z52 Sport Performance package was more popular, with 620 coupe and 503 convertible buyers opting for it. That one is only $3,500 and includes less aggressive Pilot Sport 4S tires and lower-priced metal Brembo brakes.
How is the Grand Sport stacking up against other C8 models? The site says 35% of buyers are picking the so-called sweet spot C8. It balances the look and handling upgrades of the Z06 with the engine of the standard Stingray.
Since that engine is a new 6.7-liter V8 making 535 horsepower, the sacrifice against the 670-hp 5.5-liter Z06 isn’t a tough one to make. Certainly not when the price difference is about $35,000.

It’s nice to see that buyers are loving their dark blue Corvettes. It’s not exactly a bold color, but it’s a marked improvement over black and white. It’s too bad that there isn’t as much enthusiasm for the greens and yellows that really make these cars pop.
Oh, and the rest are all mistakes. That’s what Heinricy said about the Corvettes that aren’t red. Fortunately, he was in charge of car development, not paint or customer relations.
