Since inflation is a nearly omnipresent topic in the news cycle these days, it’s very refreshing to learn that the Ford Maverick is reportedly getting a price cut for 2027 that includes many of its trims. Auto pricing guide CarsDirect revealed that amid a flurry of trim level changes and shuffling, the sporty, low-riding Lobo will get more than $3,700 cheaper to start, making it an even tougher rival for everything from the Hyundai Santa Cruz to the VW Golf GTI.

Per CarsDirect, the 2027 Maverick Lobo will have a starting price of $32,155, a $3,775 decrease from 2026. If the destination charge remains $1,845, the newest model year will cost $34,000 before options. The comprehensively equipped Lobo High package will add exactly $5,000 to the price, but that $37,155 is a whopping $4,270 less than it was for the 2026 model. Pricing for the 2027 GTI isn’t out yet, but for 2026, the hot hatch has a $35,865 starting price.
The Lobo isn’t the only Mav to get a tidy little discount just for persisting into another model year. The off-road–oriented 2027 Maverick Tremor is also less expensive than its immediate predecessor, with a starting price that falls $3,490 to $37,155 – incidentally the same price as the Lobo High. Although the two trim levels share an all-wheel-drive system with a twin-clutch rear differential, the two couldn’t be more different. The Tremor’s lifted suspension and softer springs make for good rough-road performance, while the lower and stiffer Lobo does pretty fun things on a paved autocross.

Those looking for something to spend their newfound savings on would do well to consider the Ford Custom Garage SV300T package, which crams 300 horsepower (50 above stock) into the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood, as well as commensurate improvements to the suspension and driveline tuning. Pricing for the SV300T isn’t yet available, but we anticipate it’ll be around $5,000.
Lower Trims Go Hybrid-Only
Another surprise for the upcoming model year is that the XL and Lariat trims will lose that 250-horse EcoBoost inline-four. Starting in 2027, both the base and luxury trim levels will be only offered as hybrids, with starting prices that hold the line compared to the current model year. The gas-electric, 184-hp Maverick is a great option for commuting and family use, with a towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds and fuel economy that exceeds 36 miles per gallon combined.

In addition to the Lobo and Tremor, where it’s standard, EcoBoost turbo four will still be an option on the XLT, where it actually costs $100 more for 2027 with a starting price of $30,745 before destination and handling. We’ve asked Ford for confirmation of the 2027 Maverick’s price changes – both increases and decreases – and will update the article once we get a response.

It’s beyond refreshing to hear of a manufacturer actually cutting prices for a new model year, although we’d still like to hear it from Ford before celebrating too much. Still, the sporty Lobo, adventurous Tremor, and efficient hybrids promise the same (or better) value to go along with their agreeable personalities.
