Genesis Gives You Luxury With Peace Of Minda

We added a section with information pertaining to what Genesis will cover and for how long owners will be covered by the brand’s warranty program.

In the world of luxury cars, manufacturers compete by appealing directly to the senses. They fall over themselves to make their cars aesthetically pleasing while adding the likes of more leather, more power, more sound insulation, and more technology. But Genesis took a different approach to one very important part of the luxury car ownership equation: It decided to hang some of its value proposition on the most precious resource of all, a buyer’s time. In doing so, it stole a march on some of the highest-end players in the game.

Genesis Took The Dealership Trip Out Of Routine Maintenance

The Service Valet product from Genesis collects an eligible owner’s vehicle, takes it to a retailer for service, and returns it afterward, while sometimes providing a courtesy loaner as well. It’s the kind of solution that you’d expect to find at the very top end of the premium car market, with Genesis treating its own customers’ time as an integral part of the luxury experience.

Of course, the service work doesn’t take place in the owner’s driveway at all, and Genesis arranges for someone to take the vehicle to a retailer. It’s part of a complimentary three-year subscription for new owners and the system also allows Genesis to remotely diagnose a particular vehicle’s needs. The solution is bundled into the cost of a new car for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. And for an original owner or lessee, it covers both Genesis complimentary maintenance and warranty work, including recalls and campaigns.

However, work that falls outside complimentary maintenance or warranty seems to be at the discretion of the retailer. Also, subsequent owners or lessees can retain Service Valet eligibility for warranty work during the period, but not Genesis complimentary maintenance. But for an eligible owner, the basic proposition is quite straightforward. When it’s time for qualifying routine service, somebody else deals with getting the car there and back.

Genesis Offers The Best Warranty Coverage On The Block

While we’re on the topic of complimentary maintenance and warranty work, we want to highlight just how great the brand’s warranty program really is. Before we get too far into it, though, you should know that it primarily applies to the first owner of any given Genesis model. That said, the Korean automaker increases its value proposition by ensuring first owner’s stability and reduced ownership costs. The basics come down to this:

    • Powertrain Limited Warranty: 10 Years/100,000 miles
    • New-Vehicle Limited Warranty: 5 Years/60,000 miles
    • EV System/Battery Warranty: 10 Years/100,000 miles
    • 24/7 Roadside Assistance: 5 Years/Unlimited Miles
    • Anti-Perforation (Rust) Protection: 7 Years/Unlimited Miles

While the 3-year/36,000-mile complimentary maintenance is a huge deal for many buyers, the brand makes sure you’re covered for far longer. New owners and those who bought a certified pre-owned model will rest easy knowing they have a decade-long powertrain warranty that should cover any major issues that occur.

Genesis’s App Beat Every Premium Rival In JD Power’s 2024 Rankings

Genesis’s Connected Car Technology is an important part of the Service Valet proposition. The Genesis Intelligent Assistant app also features a car care section that allows an owner to access vehicle health information and diagnostic trouble codes. They can schedule a service, pick a preferred retailer, and request valet pickup. If one is available during service, Genesis can also provide a loaner car.

The vehicle’s own information also feeds into the process. Compatible vehicles can transmit diagnostic trouble codes linked to dashboard warning lights or post information around maintenance alerts or mileage thresholds. All that diagnostic information may be sent to Genesis retailers or, in some situations, independent repair facilities.

However, there are still some limitations to this type of remote diagnostics operation. For example, the vehicle only transmits diagnostic codes that generate a dashboard warning light, and there’s a chance that data transmission could be delayed. Genesis also advises owners to go to a qualified repair facility for a full and current diagnosis.

But limitations or not, the Intelligent Assistant app has received strong results in independent benchmarking and ranked first among premium brand ICE apps in JD Power’s 2024 US OEM ICE App Report.

Genesis Has Been Selling Time As A Luxury Since 2016

    Genesis G90 (2017)Genesis

With this service, Genesis is expanding on a philosophy that it has championed since it first burst onto the scene in 2016. Back then, it announced that it would include valet servicing, complimentary maintenance, and Genesis Connected Services for the 2017 model G80. It called this the “Genesis Experience” and said that these programs would provide time-saving convenience and even went as far as to say that the “ultimate luxury is time”.

For those early 2017 model-year cars, Genesis listed three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, with the same terms for complimentary valet service, alongside three years of Genesis Connected Services.

Many would argue that Genesis had to do something different when it emerged. After all, it was trying to break into a luxury segment that was dominated by manufacturers with decades of heritage. It clearly knew that it couldn’t create that level of history overnight, so it considered other ways to stand out. It identified points of friction in traditional premium car ownership and tried to remove them, with service being an obvious target.

Today, Genesis may feel vindicated in its efforts when it looks at JD Power’s 2026 US Customer Service Index. This states that premium brand customers average 2.46 hours for dealership maintenance work, against 1.61 hours for mass market customers. And this means that the dealership waiting room is one of the least luxurious parts of owning an expensive car today. While Genesis is not cutting down on the actual time that it will take to complete maintenance, it is trying to make the duration far less important to the owner.

Pickup And Delivery Are Becoming A Luxury Battleground

Genesis is not alone in the market in trying to make valet servicing an important part of any ownership proposition. After all, Volvo currently operates a comparable program in the US, where Volvo Valet collects a customer’s vehicle for service, delivers it when ready, and offers a courtesy vehicle if required and available.

Also, Volvo allows its owners to track and manage the delivery process through the company’s app. The fine print does say that the program isn’t necessarily available nationwide, may involve participating retailers only, and that courtesy vehicles are subject to dealer availability and policy.

Meanwhile, the wider service industry is also facing process-related pressures. According to the 2025 Cox Automotive Service Industry Study, dealerships were handling 12% fewer service visits in 2025 than they did in 2018. Among owners of vehicles two years old or newer, only 54% were returning to the selling dealership for service in 2025, versus 72% in 2023.

The study also found significant dissatisfaction with the traditional service process, often around poor communication, and unexpected costs. Cox suggested easier scheduling solutions and flexible alternatives like pickup and delivery, ride-share integration, and after-hours scheduling.

Rolls-Royce Copied Genesis’ Playbook – Four Years Later

    Silver 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan front endRolls-Royce

Overall customer experience is, of course, highly valuable at the very top end of the luxury market, as epitomized by Rolls-Royce. And in late December 2020, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London moved to promote its own effortless servicing operation, which had become even more important during the ongoing pandemic of the time.

As part of its program, clients could contact the dealership through the Rolls-Royce Whispers application, secure digital messaging or by phone. Trained driving specialists would then collect the client’s car, take it in for service, have it fully detailed and sanitized, and return it at the owner’s convenience. The dealership would also provide another appropriate model for the client in the interim if one were available.

This shows that at the very top end of the luxury market, Rolls-Royce knows how to explicitly treat convenience as part of the ownership experience. And Genesis had already built the same concept into its US customer proposition, albeit at a vastly more attainable level.

Of course, Genesis Service Valet doesn’t guarantee that an owner will never have to visit a retailer again. Customers also have eligibility rules to take into account, and loaner availability does matter. But the program nevertheless attacks one of the most persistent pieces of friction in car ownership, which is finding the time to get the vehicle serviced in the first place.

Genesis has understood that point from its earliest years and, way back in 2016, it was already arguing that time itself was a luxury. Its current Service Valet product makes that philosophy tangible. Customers can just hand over the keys at home or at the office and get on with their day, expecting the car to be brought back to them afterward. And while Rolls-Royce may have had the same basic idea in 2020, Genesis makes it available to people who don’t have a Phantom parked outside.
