- The Voyah Passion S has limited-time prices of 223,900 yuan ($33,000) to 273,900 yuan, undercutting the Xiaomi YU7.
- Four LiDAR units and Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 assisted driving system come standard across the lineup.
Voyah (HKEX: 7489), a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, launched its Passion S sport utility vehicle (SUV), taking on Xiaomi’s (HKEX: 1810) hot-selling YU7 with lower prices.
The EV maker officially launched the Passion S on Saturday, with limited-time prices of 223,900 yuan ($33,000) to 273,900 yuan. Its official sticker prices are 229,900 yuan to 279,900 yuan.
The top-of-the-line four-LiDAR all-wheel-drive Ultra+ version has a limited-time price of 273,900 yuan, 36,000 yuan lower than the 309,900 yuan pre-sales price announced on July 24. The other two versions are four-LiDAR rear-wheel-drive models, with limited-time prices of 223,900 yuan and 249,900 yuan.
By comparison, the four versions of the Xiaomi YU7 are priced at 233,500 yuan, 253,500 yuan, 279,900 yuan and 329,900 yuan.
Voyah is offering customers who place orders during the limited-time window free zero-gravity seats for both the driver and front passenger, power sunshades, and a portable multifunctional ambient light.
The model is positioned as a mid- to large-size all-electric SUV aimed at younger buyers. Its styling closely resembles the Ferrari Purosangue, a so-called FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle).
The Passion S is 5,050 millimeters long, 1,998 millimeters wide and 1,656 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 3,000 millimeters, close to the YU7.
Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 advanced assisted driving system comes standard across the lineup, along with four LiDAR units, including one 896-channel LiDAR and three DTOF blind-spot LiDAR units.
The vehicle has 33 sensors in total and can identify obstacles as small as 14 centimeters tall from 120 meters away, according to Voyah. The cabin runs Huawei’s Harmony Space 5.2 cockpit system.
For power, the rear-wheel-drive version has a single motor with peak power of 300 kilowatts. The all-wheel-drive version has front and rear motors of 175 kilowatts and 300 kilowatts respectively, for combined power of 475 kilowatts (637 hp).
Two battery sizes are available, at 81 kWh and 98 kWh, with CLTC range of 630 kilometers to 740 kilometers.
The vehicle supports 800-volt 5C fast charging and can go from 20% to 80% charge in 10 minutes.
In the market for all-electric sporty SUVs priced between 250,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan, the Passion S will compete not only with the YU7 but also with the Luxeed R7, which uses Huawei’s assisted driving system as well, and the Luxeed RX, set to debut next week.
