Forget about subtle, Dodge is being very up front and in your face about how it keeps customers interested in an SUV that is now almost old enough to get a driver’s license. The latest concept is a literal Smokescreen – a special graphics pack that is a showcase of the customization Dodge wants to let you give your new Durango. Yes, Dodge has a new concept for a vehicle well over a decade old.
While you can’t buy that one, Dodge has plenty of new goodies you can take home.
Smokescreen Shows Off New Graphic Possibilities

The Dodge Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept starts with a Smokescreen-color Durango R/T 392, then adds a new Cryo Blue graphics pattern. It starts with nearly all blue at the nose, then fades back into the base gray, with a digital camo-like effect. Look closely, and you’ll spot the 392 lurking in the pattern, and we expect there are some other details like that which aren’t visible in the photos. Somehow, Dodge thinks this is “stealthy.”
Other fun touches include the Cryo Blue wheels and amber accents. The cabin is a Petrol Blue shade of leather that does a good job of matching the blue outside, and it has silver stitching on the seats and interior trim. Naturally, the R/T 392 is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8. The engine is stock, making 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
The Durango Smokescreen will make its first appearance this weekend at Roadkill Nights. The SRT-sponsored drag racing event on Woodward Avenue will be a festival of the brand’s performance offerings.
Are You Ready For Full Color Customization?

You can’t buy this graphics pack, but you will be able to buy the new Tinted Dual Stripes Dodge is about to launch. Instead of two fully painted stripes, the new stripe option adds a tinted clearcoat over whatever body color you pick. Dodge says that the effect will change based on the color underneath, but it’s a very different effect than the currently available stripe options.
The new tinted stripes will be available on all Durango models, as well as on the Charger. Dodge will have a GT with the new option at the Roadkill Nights event, featuring the Redeye exterior paint that is new for 2027.
Dodge will be launching a new Color Jailbreak program for Durango and Charger. The previous Jailbreak packages Dodge offered let customers pick from options that weren’t normally available together. This one will do the same with color, including new paint choices and the ability to order brake calipers, stripes, and spoilers in any color. Even two-tone is now on the menu.
Also new this year is a Brass Monkey package. It will add 20-inch Brass Monkey wheels and black fender badges with brass tracing and is available on GT models.
CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:
2027 Dodge DurangoDodge
Dodge buyers appear to want two things: Hemis and special editions. This Durango delivers both, and the stripes are a fun new option. When the color program arrives, it will be even more fun, and we’re expecting some wild combinations. It’s a simple way to keep an old car feeling new, and Dodge has done an amazing job keeping the Durango relevant despite the current generation dating all the way back to 2011.
The company will share more on the Color Jailbreak program later this year.
