Midas is rolling out two new store design concepts across its network of more than 1,200 locations in Canada and the U.S.

It’s the latest phase of a broader effort to modernize the customer experience and support future growth, the company said in an announcement.

The new concepts, known as ‘contemporary industrial’ and ‘urban modern,’ will become the standard for all new Midas locations and major renovations beginning July 15. The redesign is part of the company’s five-year strategic growth plan launched in 2023 and comes about a year after Midas was acquired by Mavis Tire Express Services.

“Driven by customer and franchisee insights, the new store designs are the next step in the company’s national brand evolution,” said Lenny Valentino Jr., president and chief operating officer of Midas International.

According to the company, both designs incorporate larger customer waiting areas, improved service-bay visibility, updated showrooms and enhanced customer flow through the facility. Each layout also includes a dedicated advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) service bay, reflecting the growing role of vehicle technology in repair and maintenance operations.

The two concepts are intended for different market environments. The contemporary industrial format is geared toward suburban and highway-oriented locations, featuring signage and a functional layout, while the urban modern design is aimed at denser urban markets and incorporates larger storefront windows and a more retail-oriented appearance.

“In our research, we discovered that we could design new stores that provide smoother customer flows, quicker interactions between customers and Midas team members, and more waiting areas for customers and their families,” said Paul Elliott, vice-president of marketing for Midas.

The company said it will work with franchisees to ensure future construction and renovation projects align with the new design standards.
