    • The current Seal 06 EV was launched in June 2025 with a starting price of 109,800 yuan ($16,170) and BYD’s LiDAR-free God’s Eye C driver-assistance system.
    • The 2027 Seal 06 is larger and offers more powerful drivetrain options.

BYD (HKEX: 1211) has released a set of official images of the 2027 Seal 06 sedan, which will be equipped with LiDAR and is expected to offer stronger driver-assistance capabilities.

Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD’s Ocean lineup sales division, shared the images on Thursday, positioning the new model as a “fully equipped B-segment family sedan.”

The images show a LiDAR unit mounted on the roof of the 2027 Seal 06, suggesting a significant upgrade in driver-assistance capabilities from the current model, which does not have the sensor.

The new vehicle largely retains the current model’s overall design, while introducing several detail changes. It has a cleaner front fascia and slimmer headlights, while the rear continues to feature a full-width taillight, now with a simpler and sharper design.

The 2027 Seal 06 measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, making it significantly longer than the current model, according to its regulatory filing.

For comparison, the current Seal 06 EV measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with the same 2,820 mm wheelbase.

The battery electric version of the new model will offer 2 single-motor powertrain options with peak outputs of 120 kW and 240 kW, respectively, up from the current model’s 110 kW and 160 kW.

A plug-in hybrid version will also be available, featuring a 1.5-liter engine and offering battery-only ranges of 170 km, 205 km and 230 km.

The current Seal 06 EV was launched at the Chongqing Auto Show in June 2025, with 3 variants priced from 109,800 yuan to 129,800 yuan and a maximum CLTC range of 545 km.

The vehicle is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye C driver-assistance system. The LiDAR-free system relies on cameras and supports functions including highway navigation-assisted driving and automated parking.

The Seal name originally referred to a single electric sedan, but has since expanded into a series comprising multiple sedan models, forming an important part of BYD’s push in the affordable EV market.

The Seal series sold 33,365 vehicles in June, down 24.83% year-on-year and 2.2% from May, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
