The biggest car news and reviews, no BS

Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday.

Hey, there! Do you like cars? Of course you do! No matter what niche you’re into, this auction is for the estate of John Harrah—yes, that Harrah. From Porsches to heavy-duty pickup trucks and high-quality tools, there’s something here for anybody who loves to turn a wheel (or a wrench) for fun.

This collection isn’t as massive as some of the museum lots we’ve seen auctioned off in the past, but what it lacks in sheer volume it makes up for in diversity. This item is probably one of my favorites, and it’s not even really a car. It’s a replica Porsche 356 ride-on toy designed for kids. Pow-Pow-Power Wheels, eat your heart out.

The cars themselves run from showroom-stock to heavily modified street and track cars. There’s a super clean E46 Coupe (done up in kind of an homage to the E46 CSL, by the looks of it) along with virtually all of the equipment you’d need to build another one.

    Stremmel Auctions

We’re talking lifts (both two- and four-post), a Snap-On tire mounting rig, and enough tool cabinets to support your own hardware business, and all the fabrication tools to start churning out your own. Need your own CNC rig? Yep, they’ve got that too. There are also fume extractors, drill presses, and all the portable equipment you could possibly want.

It’s also pretty clear that Harrah liked Jeeps. There are four in the auction—three Wranglers and a Gladiator—and three of them look like they came right off of one of Mopar Performance Parts’ SEMA haulers. The closest one to stock appears to be the 2023 model finished in Earl Grey. That’s a 20th anniversary Rubicon with the 392, which is probably why it has been left untouched.

If you’re looking for something to serve as a bit more of a blank canvas, there’s a 2024 Rubicon 392 in the mix. There’s no threat to your future Barrett-Jackson chances if you start hacking up the sheet metal on that one. After all, Jeep has made it clear that the V8 is no longer a limited-edition feature.

Everything shown here (along with the rest of the collection) will go live on August 5th, and the auction will end on the 15th. There’s no reserve for anything, so here’s your chance to maybe score some high-quality shop equipment (or your next off-road rig) on the cheap. Happy hunting!
