Firefly, the boutique compact EV brand under Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), launched the first model of its new Halo series, named “Habitat,” on Monday, as it continues to explore innovative ways to maintain visibility.
The model is available in a single variant, priced from 133,300 yuan ($19,680) for outright purchase, 13,500 yuan or 11.27% higher than the 119,800 yuan starting price of Firefly’s regular version.
With the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental option, the starting price drops to 93,300 yuan.
Display vehicles began arriving at stores across China on Monday for customers to experience in person.
The design of Habitat draws inspiration from the blue ghost firefly that dwells deep in forests, which is the “inner glow” annual light for 2026 that Firefly unveiled earlier.
The model features an exclusive green metallic paint, a green glowing logo lamp, and two-tone alloy wheels.
The interior is built around a nature theme, including “forest moss” soft blended fabric and “lake ripple” embossed door panels, with green seat belts, stitching, and cabin details.
The powertrain is the same as the regular version, with a single rear-mounted electric motor with a maximum output of 120 kW (161 hp).
It is equipped with a 42.1-kWh battery pack offering a CLTC range of 420 kilometers, also identical to the regular version.
Halo is Firefly’s first product series centered on design. The brand said its design team will each year unveil an annual light from changes in users, cities, and the times, and translate it into a new model.
Firefly is currently the lowest-priced brand in Nio Inc’s portfolio, mainly targeting young consumers and the urban commuting market.
The brand began initial deliveries on April 29, 2025, and announced last week that its cumulative deliveries had surpassed 70,000 units.
Firefly delivered 6,946 vehicles in June, up 76.7% year-on-year. In the first half of this year, the brand delivered 29,172 vehicles, up 271.9% year-on-year, accounting for 15.26% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries in the period.
Firefly has started battery swap beta testing at pioneer stations in six cities, paving the way for full access to Nio’s battery swap network.
