The Goodwood Festival of Speed is rapidly becoming the go-to place for boutique European sports carmakers to unveil their newest creations. For example, a revived McLaren M6GT and the latest Hennessey hypercar are premiering there this year. There’s going to be a lot to see there during the big event running from July 9 through 12.

Even tiny automakers are getting in on the action, with the Italian company Automobili Mignatta revealing sketches of its new Rina Coupe and bringing the open-roof Rina Barchetta to the event. Other than adopting a fixed roof, the latest variant follows the Barchetta’s 1960s-inspired styling but extensively takes advantage of modern materials, such as forged carbon fiber. The public also gets to see the Rina Barchetta in a fresh color scheme.

The Rina Barchetta and Rina Coupe

The Rina’s shape pays homage to 1960s Italian sports cars, such as the Ferrari 250 GTO or original Maserati Mistral. The new coupe features a double-bubble roof and a revised rear compared to its Barchetta sibling. The Kamm tail includes a sculpted section that leads to a ducktail rear spoiler. A pair of large, circular taillights dominate the rear. The company will present the first real-world Rina Coupe to the public in 2027.

Automobili Mignatta began showing off the Rina Barchetta in 2025. The one on display at this year’s Festival of Speed wears a bespoke silver color intended to evoke the appearance of bare aluminum, but there’s also a subtle green undertone to the hue. In addition, the front wheel-arch deflectors, side skirts, roll hoops, and the rear fascia are forged carbon fiber with an exposed finish. The car rides on eight-spoke wheels with a design featuring raised ribs.

The company gives the cabin a minimalist aesthetic. The tachometer and vital gauges, such as the oil temperature, are directly in front of the driver in an array of circular pods. The speedometer is larger than the rest and is on the center console. This car features a mix of black and teal leather (Automobili Mignatta calls the shade “Ice”) with forged carbon fiber accents. There are no screens to distract occupants, allowing them to focus on the experience.

The car on display at Goodwood also has a new exposed shifter mechanism for the six-speed manual gearbox. The knob is machined from solid stainless steel, and the lower portion is a lacquered composite material.

More To Know About The Rina

The Rina rides on a proprietary carbon-fiber monocoque that reportedly weighs just 157 pounds with a torsional stiffness of 101,000 Newton-meters per degree. The front and rear double-wishbone suspension includes adjustable coilovers, and the components attach to the tubular subframes connected to the monocoque. The company is targeting the vehicle to weigh around 2,205 pounds with a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution.

Under the hood, there’s an aluminum, naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, making a projected 500 horsepower. In 2025, the company confirmed to CarBuzz that it’s a Ford Coyote engine with additional tuning from Italtecnica Engineering. A carbon-fiber driveshaft sends the output to a six-speed rear transaxle with a limited-slip differential.

When the Rina was unveiled last year, the company said that it intended to build 30 cars a year. It’s assembling each car by hand to order, with prices starting at $290,000.

The BMW Z4 and Toyota GR Supra are dead, making this the only BMW 6-cylinder-powered sports car on sale.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

    Automobili Mignatta RinaAutomobili Mignatta

As established automakers move away from building performance cars with naturally aspirated V8s and manual transmissions, expect more boutique companies, like Automobili Mignatta, to pop up to fill the gap in the market. While this business doesn’t have the immediate name recognition of Lamborghini or Ferrari, it’s creating a product that evokes their past but with modern technology.

The Rina sticks to a classic recipe for a sports car. There’s a V8 engine under the hood that drives the rear wheels through a manual gearbox. Put an attractive body on top and put the resulting creation on sale.
