Nissan is moving faster than expected to get its next-generation Rogue Hybrid into U.S. showrooms, and the timing makes plenty of sense. The all-new 2027 Rogue Hybrid with Nissan’s third-generation e-Power system is now slated to begin arriving in November, several months ahead of the company’s previously accelerated schedule. Supply will be tight at first, with early vehicles imported from Japan and dealers reportedly receiving only a small number of examples before inventory builds in early 2027.
The urgency comes down to competition. Hybrid compact crossovers have become a major part of the market, particularly as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V continue to attract buyers with well-established electrified options. Nissan cannot afford to sit on the sidelines much longer, especially after Rogue sales fell to 217,896 units in 2025, an 11 percent drop from the previous year. The Rogue remains one of Nissan’s most important products, but in a segment this competitive, lacking a mainstream hybrid powertrain has become a clear disadvantage.
The new Rogue Hybrid takes a different approach from most conventional hybrids. Nissan’s e-Power system uses a gasoline engine primarily to generate electricity, while electric motors handle propulsion. That means the driving experience should feel more like an EV, with smooth torque delivery and no traditional transmission shifting, but without requiring drivers to plug in. Nissan says the new Rogue Hybrid will also feature dual-motor all-wheel drive and e-Pedal capability, further separating it from many of the more traditional hybrid systems already on the market.
Nissan is reportedly aiming for hybrid models to account for roughly 30 percent of Rogue sales by the middle of 2027, and the company expects a significant percentage of those buyers to be new to the brand. That makes the early launch more than a simple product-timing adjustment. It is a strategic move to regain momentum in one of the hottest areas of the SUV market. Nissan plans to broaden availability with additional trims and greater inventory by spring 2027, while the current-generation Rogue is expected to remain on sale alongside the redesigned model for a period of time.
Longer term, Nissan intends to move Rogue production closer to home. Gasoline-powered versions of the next-generation Rogue are expected to begin production in Smyrna, Tennessee, in 2027, with North American assembly of the e-Power hybrid following in early 2028. Nissan is also evaluating local production of e-Power components in Tennessee. For now, though, the immediate priority is clear. Nissan needs the Rogue Hybrid in dealerships as soon as possible, and with buyers increasingly treating hybrid availability as a must-have rather than a bonus, November cannot come soon enough.
