The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture.
The Aston Martin Valhalla is a rad-looking supercar with serious credentials: 1,064 horsepower, 811 lb-ft of torque, and 10 levels of adjustable traction control and torque vectoring that let drivers squeeze as much or as little performance as they want from the hybrid twin-turbo V8. Now it boasts one more: it can do 217 mph with the roof off, which, ironically, is considerably faster than with the roof on.
The Valhalla Spider remains mostly the same as its coupe sibling, but offers endless headroom to enjoy the elements around you, plus that gnarly exhaust note coming out the back. A removable soft cloth can be rolled up and stored in the car to maximize driving time, so you don’t have to risk leaving a hardtop at home and not having it when it starts raining. Interestingly, Aston claims the top speed with the soft top on is 124 mph, about 93 mph slower than with it off. A carbon-fiber hardtop is available, but it isn’t stowable. And if you’re wondering, a sensor detects whether the roof is on or off, so you can’t exceed 124 mph with the top on.

Aston claims revised aerodynamics and other electronic tweaks deliver an equally exciting, dynamic driving experience as its counterpart, and a new wind deflector that folds into three parts and stows in the sill cubbies keeps the cabin a pleasant place to pass the time.
And speaking of comfort, the Spider gets trim-specific touring seats as standard, making it an ideal GT machine for road trips or running errands around town. If desired, owners can keep the more aggressive carbon-fiber bucket seats at no extra cost.

Like the coupe, the Spider is a plug-in-hybrid supercar powered by a flat-plane, 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Three electric motors and a 6.1-kWh battery provide 1,064 hp and 8.7 miles of pure-electric range. It can do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph.
The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider will make its debut at this weekend’s 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the coupe starts at $1,051,700.
