Apparently, 418 horsepower from the Ford Bronco Raptor just wasn’t ridiculous enough for someone at Ford Performance. So, naturally, the solution was to build a Bronco with nearly three times that power, massive 42-inch tires, and enough off-road equipment to make it look like something designed to rescue stranded explorers in the Arctic. Meet the Ford Bronco Frostwarden, an outrageous one-off creation making its debut at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Beyond its wild appearance, the Frostwarden introduces something even more exciting for performance enthusiasts: Ford’s new Megazilla 2.0 supercharged V8 crate engine, which produces more than 1,200 horsepower and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Yes, that’s an absurd amount of power for a Bronco, and we absolutely love the idea.

The centerpiece of the Frostwarden is the new Megazilla 2.0, a heavily upgraded version of Ford’s massive 7.3-liter pushrod V8. Engineers have strengthened the engine block, upgraded the pistons, installed larger fuel injectors, and developed a revised camshaft specifically for supercharged applications. A massive 3.0-liter Whipple Gen 6 supercharger provides the boost necessary to push output beyond the 1,200-horsepower mark, with those extreme figures achieved using racing fuel. Additional improvements include a revised belt-drive system and upgraded harmonic damper to handle the enormous power. For comparison, the naturally aspirated Megazilla crate engine produces 612 horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque. Ford has effectively doubled the horsepower output, creating its most powerful crate engine yet.

Of course, stuffing that much power into a Bronco requires some serious upgrades to the rest of the vehicle. Ford worked with Kincer Chassis to develop the Frostwarden, equipping it with a 74Weld portal axle lift system that provides approximately four inches of additional ground clearance. Massive 42-inch BFGoodrich tires mounted on 18-inch Weld beadlock wheels give the Bronco an enormous footprint, while upgraded Dana axles and custom Bilstein suspension components help manage the additional weight and off-road demands. The Frostwarden also uses a heavy-duty 10-speed automatic transmission sourced from Ford’s Super Duty truck lineup. It’s a serious collection of hardware designed to make this Bronco considerably more capable than its factory configuration, although putting 1,200 horsepower to the ground on loose terrain would certainly require some restraint.

Visually, the Frostwarden looks every bit as outrageous as its mechanical specifications suggest. A bold black-and-yellow exterior finish gives the Bronco an unmistakable search-and-rescue appearance, while oversized fender flares accommodate its enormous tires and widened stance. A heavy-duty front bumper incorporates a Warn winch with bright yellow recovery hardware, and additional Rigid off-road lighting helps illuminate trails after dark. The roof rack carries a full-size spare tire and additional rescue equipment, while an external fuel container provides extra capacity for remote adventures. Inside, the cabin features custom black-and-yellow Katzkin upholstery, additional off-road controls, and special Megazilla branding on the steering wheel. It’s the kind of vehicle that would stand out anywhere, even among the outrageous custom creations typically found at SEMA.

Unfortunately, Ford has no plans to put the Bronco Frostwarden into production, which is probably understandable considering how extreme the finished vehicle is. However, the real story here is the Megazilla 2.0 engine, which Ford intends to offer through its performance parts program for custom builds, racing applications, and ambitious restoration projects. Pricing and availability haven’t been finalized, but the naturally aspirated Megazilla currently lists for approximately $25,295, so we’d expect the supercharged version to command a substantial premium. From our perspective, it’s refreshing to see Ford continuing to invest in outrageous combustion-engine performance when so much of the industry is focused on electrification. We certainly don’t need a 1,200-horsepower Bronco for our daily commute, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to experience one. The Frostwarden might be a one-off showpiece, but the engine powering it could inspire some truly incredible builds in the years ahead.
