UPDATE: 2026/10/28 15:12 EST BY BRETT T. EVANS

Kia Also Announced Pricing For The EV9

We added a pricing section for the three-row EV9, which will arrive in 2027 starting at $54,990 plus destination.

Until very recently, Kia has had just two models that come only with electric powertrains: the EV6 and EV9. Unfortunately for Kia, only one of them has managed to stay steady on the sales charts this year, and that one was the EV9. Meanwhile, the EV6, which has been around since the 2022 model year with mostly mild updates, has been losing significant sales the last two years.

Facing these declining sales, Kia has decided that it won’t change anything about the EV for 2027, which isn’t as crazy as it might sound.

For Once, A New Model Isn’t More Expensive

No, Kia didn’t change anything about the EV6 lineup. It has no new features, it hasn’t changed which features are available or are standard on each trim level, and the powertrains are the same, too. However, Kia also kept the prices the same from last year, which were significantly discounted compared to the 2025 model year. It’s not just a case of the base model being the same, or everything is the same except for the destination charge. For 2027, every EV6 costs exactly the same as it did last year. It’s not much, but it’s a bit refreshing to see a car company not charge anything more for the same car you could’ve bought last year.

As a refresher, the base EV, called the Light, has a starting MSRP of $37,900, which comes to $39,445 with the $1,545 destination charge. That’s for the light with the short-range battery and rear-wheel drive. That model has a range of 237 miles and makes 167 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Upgrading to the long-range battery adds $3,300 over the base model, but also brings range to 319 miles and increases power to 225 hp with the same torque. Adding both that battery and all-wheel drive is $7,300 over base, and it brings output to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, though range dips to 295 miles.

The next two trims, Wind and GT-Line, come only with the large battery, but are available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. They also have basically identical specifications as the long-range Light models, but the GT-Line with all-wheel drive has a range of just 270 miles. You can find pricing for all these models below.

      • Single-Motor (RWD)

        • Light (Short Range): $37,900
        • Light (Long Range): $41,200
        • Wind: $44,800
        • GT-Line: $48,700
      • Dual-Motor (AWD)

        • Light: $45,200
        • Wind: $48,800
        • GT-Line: $53,000

Standard features for the EV6 include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch displays for instruments and infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, power-adjustable driver seat, front seat heating, dual-zone automatic climate control, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims offer other desirable features, such as a heat-pump for the climate control system, heated rear seats, front ventillated seats, full leatherette upholstery, a sunroof, an upgraded sound system, and a head-up display.

What Is The EV6 Up Against?

The EV6 is now one of the older options in the segment, having launched for the 2022 model year. It has had a styling refresh, and some other minor changes, but it’s mostly the same as it was when it first hit dealers. Also, while prices haven’t changed, the EV6 is also on the more expensive end of the segment. The Chevy Equinox EV and Toyota bZ each have starting MSRPs of just under $35,000, and the former offers an impressive range of more than 300 miles for that price.

Those both come with front-wheel drive, though, rather than the EV6’s sportier rear-wheel drive. Arguably more comparable is the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which has a slightly higher base price, but offers more power in the single-motor powertrain. Go to all-wheel drive and all of Ford’s options can be had for less than the EV6. Though, one further advantage the EV6 offers over the competition is the 800-volt battery pack that can charge faster than any of them on a 350-kW DC fast charger.

Kia’s Larger Electric SUV Gets A Very Slight Increase

Although the EV6 holds the line on pricing for 2027, its three-row big sibling doesn’t. But don’t start lamenting the added cost yet, because the latest EV9 has a starting price of $54,990 plus $1,645 destination – a mere $90 more than its immediate predecessor. Considering the price of a loaf of bread went up 8 percent in the last year, the measly little two tenths of a percent uptick for the Kia SUV is almost nothing to be concerned about.

That cash will get you a base EV9 Light with the standard-range battery, a setup good for 230 miles of range and 215 hp from a single rear motor. The Light Long Range costs more, at $57,990 plus destination, and despite that added cash outflow, it actually has less power, at 201. But as its trim name suggests, those horses can run longer distances before getting tired, since the Light LR will do 305 miles to a charge.

Getting all-wheel drive requires stepping into one of the top three trim levels: either the 283-mile Wind or Land or the 280-mile GT-Line. Prices go up accordingly, as well, with the nicely equipped Wind costing $64,090 plus destination (up $190 from 2026) and the more luxurious Land demanding $69,990 (up a surprising $1,090. The flagship GT-Line rewards its owner’s $71,990 outlay ($90 more than last year) with sportier styling cues inside and out.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

The EV6 is still a good EV, and it’s one that’s well-equipped. However, it is getting old, and the competition is starting to offer a lot for even less than Kia is. So, it’s not entirely surprising to us that sales are falling off. For reference, sales are down by 43% for the year as of September. Last year wasn’t exactly a good one either, since sales ended at 40% down from 2024.

Between tougher competition and an aging design, we think what Kia really needs to get EV6 sales back in shape is a fully redesigned model.
