Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has given the Model 3 minor feature upgrades in China, adding a larger central touchscreen and a new interior option while keeping prices unchanged.
Tesla announced on Weibo on Thursday that all Model 3 variants currently on sale have been upgraded to a 16-inch touchscreen, replacing the previous 15.4-inch display.
The company said the new screen offers higher resolution and a higher refresh rate for navigation, entertainment and gaming. The new optional light gray premium interior is paired with a black fabric headliner.
The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive still starts at 235,500 yuan ($34,970), while the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive starts at 259,500 yuan, according to Tesla’s China website.
The Long Range All-Wheel Drive and Performance All-Wheel Drive versions start at 285,500 yuan and 339,500 yuan, respectively, with no price changes accompanying the upgrades.
Tesla also announced that all Model 3 and Model Y variants currently on sale now offer external AC power output of up to 2.2 kW.
Using the feature requires a separately purchased Tesla external AC power adapter, except for the Model Y L, according to an official promotional poster. The feature can power appliances during camping trips and other outdoor activities.
Tesla is also continuing the promotion announced on September 25. Customers who order a Model 3 on or before October 31 and take delivery in accordance with their order terms can receive a 5,000 yuan discount on the final payment.
The Rear-Wheel Drive and 2 Long Range variants are also eligible for an 8,000 yuan insurance subsidy. After the applicable discount and insurance subsidy, the Model 3 starts at 222,500 yuan.
Other purchase incentives include interest-free financing for up to 5 years, an 8,000 yuan limited-time benefit for optional paint and a choice of 3 charging perks, with eligibility subject to the promotion’s terms.
Before the update, Model 3 deliveries in China returned to year-on-year growth in August, though cumulative sales this year remained below the year-earlier level.
The Model 3 recorded 20,787 deliveries in China in August, up 17.18% year-on-year and the highest monthly total this year, according to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data compiled by CnEVPost.
