The Last Toyota Supra Is Here, And It Could Go Out With A Million-Dollar Bang

When Toyota introduced the fifth-generation A90 Supra seven years ago, it put the very first example up for auction for charity. Now, it’s doing the same with the very last of this Supra generation. If you were looking to get a particularly special example of the sports car, this may be the one to get, too, since it boasts all the improvements made over the car’s life on top of being the last of its kind.

As such, it has a real chance of topping the seven-figure price set by the first A90.

A Special VIN And One-Off Color Set It Apart

The final A90 Supra would be special enough, but Toyota has done a few other things to make it just a little more unique. The company painted it in Phantom Grey, a matte paint finish not available on any other 2026 Supra, standard or Final Edition. The VIN has also been adjusted not to reflect its sequential production number, but with the maxed out 99999 ending, making its status as the last example unambiguous. Plus, Toyota’s Chairman, Akio “Morizo” Toyoda, signed the engine cover. If we were buying it, we’d be split between leaving the cover on the car, or taking it off and putting it in a safe, but prominent, place for display.

Naturally, this last Supra is a fully-loaded Final Edition trim. That gives it the carbon fiber rear spoiler, front “spats,” adaptive shocks, larger brakes, and forged wheels. Toyota also opted to give this car the six-speed manual transmission, rather than the eight-speed automatic. It further comes with the GT4 Style Pack, which adds contrasting red mirror caps, GR side decals, and a “wind-buffeting kit.”

As for who’s auctioning the car, that would be Barrett-Jackson. The company also auctioned the first example in 2019. Proceeds from this car will be going to a different charity, though, the Reach Out WorldWide organization. The organization was founded by the late actor Paul Walker, and its current CEO is his brother Cody Walker, and it organizes groups of first responders and construction workers to go to disaster areas to help with recovery efforts. The car will cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s auction in Arizona, which runs from January 23 to 31. The car has a high bar to match the first example, which Barrett-Jackson auctioned for $2.1 million. Whatever it sells for, it will surely be far more expensive than the roughly $73,000 price of an equivalent Supra Final Edition.

Why Is This Better Than The First Car?

Over the lifespan of the A90 Supra, Toyota made quite a few improvements. One of the big ones we’ve already mentioned, and that’s with the addition of the manual transmission. The six-speed arrived for the 2023 model year, about halfway through the model’s life. Before that, Toyota also increased the output of the six-cylinder Supra significantly. The launch models made 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Just one model year later, that rose to 382 hp and 368 lb-ft. So, on top of the final car being historically important, it will benefit from all of the upgrades and changes Toyota made over the years.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Toyota has been saying farewell to multiple sporty cars in the last year or two. In addition to the Supra, the Lexus LC and RC have been discontinued. However, the company isn’t giving up on sporty cars by any means. At the high end, it’s launching the GR GT twin-turbo V8 coupe and its electric Lexus LFA counterpart. It also seems that a Celica is on the way. Rumors have also swirled about a sixth-generation Supra, one that wouldn’t get its chassis and powertrain from BMW.

We’re sad to see this excellent sports car finally drive into the sunset, but we’re confident that Toyota has plenty of exciting things to fill the hole in our hearts.
