The Lincoln Corsair is not disappearing after all. After Ford previously signaled that production of the compact luxury SUV would end following the 2026 model year, Lincoln has confirmed a 2027 Corsair Hybrid that keeps the nameplate alive with refreshed styling, more power, standard all-wheel drive, and a simplified two-trim lineup. The biggest change, however, has nothing to do with what sits under the hood. Instead of being built in Louisville, Kentucky, the 2027 Corsair will be imported to the United States from Chongqing, China.
Visually, Lincoln has not reinvented its smallest SUV, but the changes give the Corsair a cleaner connection to newer models in the brand’s lineup. A wider grille dominates the revised front end, while slimmer headlights feature an LED signature that extends inward toward the grille for a look reminiscent of the larger Aviator. Lincoln has also reworked the front and rear bumpers and given the full-width taillight treatment a more detailed appearance. Buyers will have new 18-, 19-, and 20-inch wheel choices along with fresh colors including Nocturnal Blue, Tinted Copper, Chroma Flame Red, Manhattan Green, and White Platinum. An available Jet Appearance package adds darker exterior trim for those wanting something less traditional.
Every 2027 Corsair will now be a conventional hybrid. The system pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, a continuously variable transmission, and standard all-wheel drive for a combined 305 horsepower. That represents a sizable increase over the outgoing Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid’s 266 horsepower. There is a tradeoff, though. The previous plug-in model offered about 27 miles of electric-only driving, while the new setup eliminates the larger rechargeable battery in favor of a more traditional hybrid arrangement. For many buyers, not having to plug in may actually make the Corsair easier to live with, especially if improved fuel economy comes without changing normal driving habits.
The cabin is considerably more familiar. Lincoln retains the existing dashboard layout, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and 13.2-inch central touchscreen, while updating the seats and introducing a new Stellar Sun interior theme. Reserve models can be equipped with 24-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functionality, along with leather-trimmed upholstery and Black Satin Ash wood. Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving technology will also be standard across the 2027 Corsair lineup, giving Lincoln’s entry model a meaningful technology feature that shoppers increasingly expect in a premium vehicle.
Pricing starts at $48,790 for the Corsair Premiere and $55,790 for the Reserve. That makes the entry point noticeably higher than the outgoing non-hybrid 2026 Corsair, although the standard hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, and BlueCruise help explain some of that increase. Interestingly, the 2027 Reserve still comes in slightly below the $55,860 starting price of the previous Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid. Lincoln appears to be repositioning the Corsair around a simpler formula, with fewer trims and more equipment included from the start rather than forcing buyers to navigate several different powertrain choices.
What surprises us most is Ford’s decision to revive the Corsair for the U.S. market by importing it from China. That move comes at an especially interesting time considering the tariff pressure surrounding Chinese-built vehicles and Ford’s more recent efforts to move future Lincoln production away from China. We recently discussed that very issue with the Lincoln Nautilus, which has become an example of how tariffs and changing trade policy can make Chinese production increasingly complicated for vehicles destined for American showrooms. Against that backdrop, adding another China-built Lincoln to the U.S. lineup feels somewhat counterintuitive, even if it provides Ford with a convenient way to keep the Corsair alive without dedicating American factory capacity to it.
There may be a perfectly practical business case behind the decision. Keeping Corsair production in an existing Chinese plant allows Lincoln to retain an entry in the compact luxury SUV segment while the former Louisville production space is redirected toward Ford’s upcoming electric vehicle plans. Still, the arrangement could prove temporary as Ford reevaluates where its Lincoln models are built in the years ahead. Deliveries of the 2027 Lincoln Corsair Hybrid are expected to begin in early 2027, giving buyers a more powerful and better-equipped version of an SUV that seemed headed for retirement only a short time ago. The Corsair’s survival is welcome news for Lincoln shoppers seeking something smaller than a Nautilus, but where it is being built may ultimately prove just as interesting as the vehicle itself.
