- The Stelato G9 is Huawei HIMA’s first hardcore SUV, offering BEV and EREV options as well as five- and six-seat layouts.
- The BEV version has a range of up to 728 km, while the EREV version offers up to 405 km of battery-only range.
Stelato, the EV brand jointly developed by Huawei and BAIC (SHA: 600733), has launched the G9 SUV (sport utility vehicle), the first off-road SUV under HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance).
The Stelato G9 officially went on sale at a HIMA product launch event on Thursday, with prices ranging from 429,800 yuan ($63,390) to 549,800 yuan. This starting price is lower than the pre-sale price of 439,800 yuan.
The model is offered in 10 variants, spanning extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions.
Stelato G9 trims and prices
The launch paves the way for the Stelato G9’s public debut on August 21, the opening day of the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, where HIMA will showcase its full model lineup.
The Stelato G9 adopts a boxy design, breaking away from the styling language of the brand’s previous models.
It measures 5,377 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,897 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
The Stelato G9 is available in five- and six-seat layouts, with dual zero-gravity front seats and an onboard compressor refrigerator standard across the lineup.
The Stelato G9 comes standard with Huawei’s 800-volt Giant Whale battery platform and dual-motor all-wheel drive, delivering a combined maximum output of 437 kW (586 hp) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds.
The BEV version is equipped with a 120-kWh battery pack and offers a CLTC range of up to 728 km. The EREV version comes with either a 56-kWh or 75-kWh battery pack, offering up to 405 km of CLTC battery-only range and up to 1,366 km of combined range.
The Stelato G9 is equipped with Huawei ADS 5.0 and a new-generation dual-path LiDAR system, with 38 high-precision sensors across the vehicle.
Huawei said it is the first luxury hardcore SUV with an architecture designed for Level 3 autonomous driving, as well as the first model of its kind to receive approval in Beijing for Level 3 autonomous-driving road tests at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The G9 debuts Huawei’s all-terrain Tuling platform, featuring dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers, with 130 mm of ride-height adjustment.
The SUV’s direct rivals include hardcore models such as the Bao 8 from BYD (HKEX: 1211) sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao and GWM’s (HKEX: 2333) Tank 700.
Such models typically use body-on-frame construction and place greater emphasis on off-road capability than on comfort in urban driving.
The Luxeed RX starts at a pre-sales price of 299,800 yuan ($44,210), with dimensions close to the Xiaomi YU7 and a highly overlapping target customer base.
