    • The iCar V25 comes with a 33.67 kWh battery pack and up to 150 km of WLTC electric range.
    • The iCar brand’s July sales rose 38% year-on-year to 9,068 units, putting its year-to-date total back in growth territory.

iCar, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under Chery (HKEX: 9973), unveiled a new extended-range sport utility vehicle (SUV), the V25, in Chengdu, further expanding its lineup of boxy models.

The vehicle made its debut at a brand event in Chengdu on August 14, positioned as a tech-forward, stylish light flagship SUV aimed mainly at young consumers.

The V25 is the third model in iCar’s V series. It is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year and will appear at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show next week.

The V25 carries over the family’s signature boxy design. It measures 4,636 mm long (including the external storage box), 1,920 mm wide and 1,855 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The vehicle has a minimum ground clearance of 197 mm, giving it light off-road capability. At the rear, it has a side-opening tailgate that swings open to 88 degrees, along with an externally mounted 22.7-liter storage “backpack.”

The model comes in 5 body colors — white, black, silver, green and matte gray — and comes standard with 21-inch wheels and 265 mm wide tires.

For assisted driving, the V25 uses Chery’s Super Falcon 700+ system, built around the Journey 6P chip from Horizon Robotics (HKEX: 9660), which delivers 560 TOPS of computing power.

The vehicle can be optionally equipped with LiDAR and supports highway navigation, urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) and automated parking.

For power, the model uses Chery’s in-house-developed SQRH4J15 1.5-liter turbocharged engine as a range extender, with maximum power of 115 kW.

The battery is a 33.67 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack, with WLTC electric range offered in 145-kilometer and 150-kilometer versions and fuel consumption at low state of charge of 6.9 liters and 7.15 liters per 100 kilometers, respectively. It is expected to offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with motors at the front and rear.

The chassis uses a MacPherson front and five-link rear independent suspension, tuned by an international calibration team.

The V25 is iCar’s second attempt in the range-extender space. The V27, the brand’s flagship model that went on sale in China on March 13 this year, was its first range-extender vehicle and remains its largest product to date.

iCar currently sells the V23, V23S and V27 in China, with the V23 — starting at 122,800 yuan ($18,091) — serving as its sales mainstay.

iCar sold 9,068 vehicles in July, up 38.11% year-on-year but down 13.35% from June, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
