Lamborghini is not waiting until Monterey Car Week to start building excitement for the next chapter of its V12 flagship. The upcoming Revuelto SV, short for Superveloce, will make its official debut on August 14 at The Quail, but the camouflaged car is already making noise with a 1-minute, 41.6-second lap at the Hockenheim Grand Prix circuit. With factory and test driver Marco Mapelli behind the wheel, Lamborghini says the hotter Revuelto has claimed a record before the camouflage even comes off.
The record wording matters. After questions were raised about the Mercedes-AMG One’s quicker 1-minute, 38.5-second lap of the same Hockenheim GP layout, Lamborghini clarified that its claim refers specifically to the Revuelto SV as the fastest production super sports car at Hockenheim. The AMG One, while street legal and extremely fast, is positioned as a limited-production hypercar with a very different technical concept, production volume, and price point. In other words, Lamborghini is drawing a line between its V12 plug-in hybrid supercar and AMG’s F1-derived hypercar.
Even with that distinction, the lap time is seriously impressive. The standard Revuelto already combines a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 with three electric motors for 1,001 horsepower, giving Lamborghini a strong foundation to build on. The SV is expected to turn up the intensity with more power, sharper aero, recalibrated suspension, and a more aggressive track-focused setup. Lamborghini has not released final output numbers yet, but the limited-run Fenomeno has already shown that the Revuelto’s hybrid V12 system can be pushed to 1,065 horsepower.
The Superveloce badge carries weight at Lamborghini. Historically, SV models have taken the brand’s flagship cars and made them lighter, louder, faster, and more focused without completely stripping away the drama that makes a Lamborghini feel like an event. For the Revuelto SV, the challenge will be a little different because it has to sharpen an already complicated hybrid platform. Expect more downforce, stickier tires, possible brake upgrades, and software tuning that better integrates the V12, electric motors, all-wheel drive, and torque vectoring systems on track.
Pricing and production numbers remain under wraps, but nobody should expect restraint. The standard Revuelto is already a $600,000-plus supercar, and an SV variant will almost certainly climb well beyond that once options and personalization are factored in. A limited production run also seems likely, especially given how Lamborghini typically treats its most focused flagship variants. For collectors, the first Superveloce of Lamborghini’s plug-in hybrid V12 era will carry plenty of significance.
