This middleweight ADV makes long rides easy for beginners. It is thanks to its focus on balance rather than extremes. The 2026 model is loaded from the factory with touring-ready features such as 28-liter quick-release lockable side cases, hand guards, and more comfortable seats. Powering the Versys 650 is a versatile sportbike-derived parallel-twin engine. This is tuned for a more linear performance curve, producing 66 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and 45 pound-feet of torque at 7,000 RPM. A simple yet versatile chassis underpins it.

Furthermore, it is rather compact for a fully-fledged touring bike. This helps it be an easy urban companion. The technology suite is not jam-packed, but it does get the needful to stay relevant in 2026. Notable features include a 4.3-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel traction control and ABS, and LED lighting all around.

There are affordable rivals, but they compromise on certain features, making the Versys 650 a no-frills choice compared to them. The most affordable rival to the Versys 650 is the Suzuki V-Strom 650, priced at $9,299. It is a very reliable and refined tourer but is outdated in terms of technology and features. It also doesn’t get standard side cases or hand guards.
The only saving grace is its highly versatile V-twin engine, which, despite being over two decades old, remains relevant today. Another affordable rival is the Honda NC750X DCT. While Honda calls it an “adventure” bike, we are baffled, as its hardware (suspension and wheels) suggests it is a tarmac-only motorcycle. It is very practical and also has a hidden storage compartment that can easily hold a full-sized helmet.

We can very well call it the Pontiac Aztek of the motorcycle world, sans the split design. However, the NC750X is a very mundane motorcycle in terms of performance and riding dynamics compared to the Versys 650. But taking the spotlight is a relatively new CFMoto adventure bike that obliterates the Versys 650 with much more power, superior hardware, enticing looks, and eye-popping technology. The best part? Its well-rounded, value-packed, and segment-defining features make the likes of the Suzuki V-Strom 800, the Honda Transalp, and even the Triumph Tiger Rally Pro fall short.

The standout feature of this adventure tourer is its radar technology. The Ibex 800 E’s radar tech is neatly integrated above the rear license plate holder, and hence doesn’t hinder its design. This piece of hardware enables the Ibex to include blind-spot detection as a standard feature.
Other safety and assistive features include ABS, traction control, and stability control. The cockpit gets an eight-inch MMI TFT with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, and CFMoto RideSync. The software integrates to help riders seamlessly connect their smartphones to the motorcycle and access features such as incoming calls, message notifications, music playback, and navigation.

The Ibex 800 E’s engine is already an experienced mill, as it is derived from the KTM Duke 790’s LC8c engine. The 799 cc parallel-twin unit produces 94 horsepower at 9,000 RPM and 56.8 pound-feet of torque at 6,500 RPM. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual gearbox and a final chain drive. The engine character is balanced, with a meaty midrange that should aid this ADV’s peppy overtakes on highways.

On the hardware front, the Ibex 800 E also uses much of the KTM 790 Adventure platform, including the main frame. The frame is rigid for off-road duties yet lightweight to offer a nimble riding experience. Its swingarm is aluminum, which should reduce unsprung mass and enhance off-road performance. The chassis is suspended on fully adjustable suspension at both ends. The front gets inverted KYB forks with 6.3 inches of travel. The rear gets a monoshock with 5.9 inches of travel. It flaunts a fresh design with notable Triumph Tiger inspiration, especially in its sleek, wide headlamp and short front beak. The fit and finish, as many first-time owners claim, are impressive and top-notch.
For 2026, CFMoto offers the Ibex 800 E in two color options. Our favorite is the white-and-blue dual-tone shade with golden rims. Despite its size and intimidation, the Ibex 800 E is a fairly accessible ADV with a seat height of 32.5 inches. It has a wheelbase of 60.3 inches and a curb weight of 509 pounds.
The Ibex 800 E Makes Its Rivals Hard To Justify

This Chinese ADV is so well stacked for its price that it makes flagship adventure bikes hard to justify. Proven KTM-derived underpinnings, including a feisty engine, help build trust in this fairly new offering too. The Ibex 800 E is versatile, has a head-turning design, and packs enough features and accessories to shame the big guns. It isn’t getting the attention it deserves mainly because of CFMoto’s unproven long-term reliability and ownership experience. Once this Chinese motorcycle maker proves itself on this front, almost all of its motorcycles will sell like hotcakes. Until then, it remains an underdog.
