The new BMW iX3 has already received nearly 100,000 orders. Now, BMW is ramping up production at a record pace to meet the strong demand.

After it went on sale last September, BMW’s former CEO, Oliver Zipse, told investors during the company’s annual conference in March that the new iX3 received 50,000 orders in its first six months.

Now, orders are on track to reach 100,000 soon. BMW announced on Tuesday that it had produced the 50,000th iX3 at its new manufacturing plant in Debrecen, Hungary.

The accomplishment comes just nine months after series production began at the facility, making it the fastest ramp-up at a new BMW plant ever.

“The 50,000th BMW iX3 underscores the capabilities of our plant in Debrecen: Never before have we built so many vehicles so quickly at a new plant,” Raymond Wittmann, BMW’s board member responsible for production, said.

BMW added a second shift in February to meet the stronger-than-expected demand, with customer orders on track to reach 100,000 soon, the company said.

Powered by its sixth-generation eDrive (Gen6) architecture and a 108.7 kWh battery, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive starts at €73,925 ($85,200) in Germany with a WLTP range of up to 805 km (500 miles). BMW also sells the iX3 40, starting at €63,400 ($73,000) with a range of 628 km (390 miles).

In the US, the 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive is available to order, starting at $61,500 with an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 434 miles.

Inside, the electric SUV features BMW’s Neue Klasse cabin design. The setup includes the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system with a 17.9″ central infotainment screen and a 43″ Panoramic Vision display that spans the entire base of the windshield.

With a DC charging capacity of up to 400 kW, the iX3 can add 373 km (231 miles) of range in as little as 10 minutes.

The iX3 is BMW’s first Neue Klasse vehicle, introducing its new design, software, batteries, drivetrain, and other technologies. By the end of 2027, BMW plans to launch 40 new or updated models.

After deliveries began in March, BMW’s new iX3 became the top-selling EV in its class in Europe in April, outselling the Audi Q4 e-tron.
