Aston Martin appears to be cooking up an outrageous track-only machine that blends elements from the Aston Martin Formula 1 race car with that of the automaker’s former Valkyrie hypercar, which still competes at the top level in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship. The mysterious project first surfaced in April when prototype photos leaked online.

Now, a fresh spy video reveals far more of what could become Aston Martin’s wildest creation yet.

Rumored One-Off For An American Billionaire

Its huge wing, open cockpit, and wild proportions, reminiscent of the vehicle driven by Michael Keaton’s Batman, have already earned it the “Batmobile” nickname. In the video below, posted to the Facebook page of Ivomatallaboutcars, we get our first listen to the engine’s soundtrack. It suggests the car is powered by a version of the Cosworth-built 6.5-liter V12 used in both the Valkyrie road car and the Valkyrie AMR-LMH race car.

Aston Martin has yet to reveal any details about the car, but Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reported, following the first sighting, that it is a one-off commission for Kenneth Griffin, the billionaire founder of the Citadel hedge fund. Reportedly overseeing its development is Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting arm of the Aston Martin F1 team, meaning legendary race car designer Adrian Newey, the team’s current chief designer, may also be involved.

    Potential Red Bull RB17 Rival

Should Aston Martin decide to build more than one example for deep-pocketed track enthusiasts, the car could emerge as a direct rival to Red Bull Racing’s RB17 track special. Adrian Newey penned the RB17 while serving as Red Bull’s chief designer, creating what is essentially his vision of an F1 race car freed from the constraints of the rulebook. The star aerodynamicist also designed the Valkyrie back when Aston Martin worked with Red Bull as a technology partner.

The RB17 features a closed canopy and a Cosworth-built 4.5-liter V10 paired with a mild-hybrid system producing a combined 1,200 horsepower. Red Bull is targeting a curb weight of less than 2,000 pounds and estimates the car will be capable of lap times comparable to those of its current RB22 F1 race car. Just 50 examples will be built, each carrying a price tag of around $6 million. It remains unclear whether Aston Martin intends to build only a single example of its new creation or expand production to truly take on the Red Bull.

May Be Latest Star Of Aston Martin Unleashed

There is a chance Aston Martin could build more than one example. The company has posted significant losses in recent years and could use every additional revenue stream it can find. A more compelling reason, however, is its exclusive track-car program known as Unleashed. Launched in 2025, the fly-in-and-drive experience gives owners access to track days at top F1 circuits with professional racing drivers as guides and full factory support for technical issues and logistics.

The program is open to owners of Aston Martin’s most exclusive and track-focused models, including the Valkyrie, Valkyrie AMR Pro, and the earlier Vulcan. Like Ferrari’s pioneering Corse Clienti program, Unleashed also enables Aston Martin’s engineers to gather valuable track data while evaluating new technologies in extreme conditions.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

As performance reaches levels that can no longer be safely or legally explored on public roads, exclusive track cars like this could become more common as automakers look to demonstrate what they are capable of. They offer manufacturers a relatively unrestricted platform to push the limits of speed, aerodynamics, and engineering in ways even today’s road-going hypercars simply can’t.
