- Leapmotor shared the first interior images of the A05s after previewing the vehicle last week.
- The A05s is the second model in the A series after the A10 and will support the company’s aggressive target of delivering 1 million vehicles in 2026.
Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) has unveiled the first official interior images of the A05s, showing a cabin designed to appeal to younger buyers of compact electric vehicles (EVs).
The Stellantis NV (NYSE: STLA)-backed Chinese EV maker said Friday on its Weibo account that the A05s stands out for more than its exterior, with every detail, from the color scheme to the materials, carefully designed.
The A05s shown in the images features a 2-tone interior, with pink contrasting against off-white in what Leapmotor said was intended to create a “personalized and trendy aesthetic.”
Large areas of the cabin are wrapped in eco-friendly synthetic suede to provide a soft, refined feel.
The vehicle is equipped with a 2-spoke steering wheel and a floating central touchscreen, with a small instrument display positioned behind the steering wheel.
A full-width air vent is paired with ambient lighting, while the center console provides cupholders and storage space, contributing to a clean overall layout.
Leapmotor positions the A05s as a “smart, agile premium sedan” and describes it as a “global modern fashion statement.”
The company previewed the vehicle’s exterior on July 10, with the images showing a prominent LiDAR sensor bump on the roof.
The A05s is the second model in Leapmotor’s A series after the A10 small sport utility vehicle (SUV).
Based on the official preview images, the vehicle is effectively a compact hatchback. In China, models of this type are commonly classified as sedans.
Leapmotor filed the A05 compact EV with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in March. The regulatory filing showed that the vehicle measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.
The model offers 70-kW and 90-kW motor options, paired with 39.8-kWh and 53-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, respectively. The corresponding driving ranges are 405 kilometers and 510 kilometers.
After its official launch, the A05s will compete directly with popular compact EVs including the BYD Dolphin and Geely Xingyuan.
Leapmotor management said on an earnings call in March that the A05 would be introduced during the summer launch window and that new models, including the A10, were expected to contribute 60% of the company’s total sales in 2026.
The A10 was launched in China in March with prices ranging from 65,800 yuan ($9,710) to 86,800 yuan. The model recorded sales of 26,804 units in June, an all-time high.
Leapmotor delivered a record 93,376 vehicles globally in June, up 94.51% from a year earlier. Deliveries in the first half of the year reached 356,487 units, an increase of 60.82%.
However, that represented only about 35.6% of the company’s full-year delivery target of 1 million vehicles for 2026.
Leapmotor senior vice president Xu Jun said on July 16 that the company had no plans to revise its annual target and would make efforts across products, marketing and sales channels in the second half to get as close to the goal as possible.
The refreshed B01 sedan starts at 95,800 yuan ($14,150), while the B10 SUV starts at 99,800 yuan.
