The Koenigsegg Gemera originally debuted in 2020 and promised to be the world’s first four-seat supercar, with a goal of being the fastest four-passenger automobile on earth. At the unveiling, company founder Christian von Koenigsegg said: “The Gemera is a completely new category of car where extreme megacar meets spacious interior and ultimate environmental consciousness. We call it a Mega-GT.”

Originally, the Gemera was supposed to use Koenigsegg’s Tiny Friendly Giant twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine and three of the company’s Dark Matter electric motors to make a total of 1,727 horsepower. However, customers didn’t like the idea of a supercar with just a trio of pistons in its combustion engine. The production version adopts a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 that makes 1,479 hp and 1,106 pound-feet on its own, and the electric assistance takes the total figure to an astounding 2,269 hp and 2,028 lb-ft of torque. Well, six years later, and the Gemera is finally ready to hit the road.

“Today is a big milestone for Koenigsegg, as we roll out the most technically advanced and most ambitious program in our history.”

    – Christian von Koenigsegg.

    The Gemera Is Finally Here

It has taken a few years, but the first Gemera customer finally has their mega GT. Koenigsegg handed over the ghost-shaped key to the owner at The Aurora in Båstad, Sweden. The buyer specified the machine with a vivid Johan Röd red body with subtle, exposed carbon-fiber elements on the front splitter, engine cover, and rear diffuser. The customer also got the Trofast Aircore Carbon Wheels.

Inside, the first customer Gemera features Engel Svart black leather and Alcantara with red stitching. There are also Johan Röd accents, including on the seatbelts and Koenigsegg logos on the headrests. The buyer specified the company’s Crystal Clear sound system and red-tinted Ghost emblems.

The Gemera’s V8 engine hooks up to Koenigsegg’s nine-speed Light Speed Transmission, which can skip gears depending on the situation. Where most automated gearboxes have to move through the cogs sequentially, Koenigsegg’s unit can swap directly to the right gear, for example going from seventh straight to fourth. Plus, the electric motors give the car all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

How does 2,300 horsepower and room for four sound?

In 2025, Koenigsegg announced the F10 aerodynamics package for the Gemera. The equipment is absent from this car, but the pack includes a more prominent front splitter, dive planes on the corners, revised side sills, and a rear wing for producing additional downforce for customers who intend to give their Gemera a workout on the track.

While a six-year wait from debut to the delivery of the first example might seem egregious, it’s the norm among supercar makers. The companies show off a new product when it’s nearly ready, gather orders, and then complete development. However, Koenigsegg had to deal with the extra pains of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic while trying to finish its mega GT, which likely added even more time before the Gemera was ready for the road.

The legendary insignia goes back a long way – and it doesn’t even come from the world of cars…

The result is as amazing as the original show car. The Gemera takes Koenigsegg’s smooth design language and adapts it to a vehicle that can seat four people. Although, judging by the pictures, space for the rear passengers looks fairly tight.

Now, we hope the new owner takes the Gemera somewhere to push the car to its velocity limit. Let’s find out how fast this machine can go with four passengers on board.
